Decisions in definitions cascade through entire documents AND definitions are some of the most copy/pasted portions of legislative text. They are tremendously powerful & require greater scrutiny, so I'm THRILLED to have all these stellar experts weighing in!

Before working in the Senate as a @congressfellows.bsky.social, I'd often wonder "WHY are lawyers LIKE THAT??"
Now that I've actually worked on drafting legislation & really reckoned with the power of legal definitions, I understand how tiny choices of words or where the comma goes have BIG impacts!
