If you wanna know why I prefer the #Fediverse over Bluesky, this right here is the biggest reason. Because all of these different platforms use #ActivityPub, you have the freedom to choose the social networking software that works best for you, without losing touch with friends... unlike Bluesky.

The trunk of the tree is labeled The Fediverse, to indicate that all the applications within the tree crown are part of the The Fediverse. The crown is made up of circles that intersect with each other. Circle 1: Multimedia (streaming, video, photos, podcasting, images, files). Apps: Downcast, PeerTube, Pixelfed, Castopod and Nextcloud. Circe 2: Networking. Apps: Friendica, Mastodon, Misskey, Pleroma, Diaspora, GnuSocial, Hubzilla, Socialhome, kbin and Lemmy. Circle 3: Music. Apps: Funkwhale. Circle 4: Books. Apps: Bookwyrm. Circle 5: Writing. Apps: Write Freely, Plume, Drupal (via plugins) and Wordpress (via plugins). Circle 6: Events. Apps: Mobilizon and Bonfire. Growing out of the trunk is a separate branch labeled “Paid services”. Apps here are micro.blog and write.as. Smaller trees around the main tree indicate other protocols for federated social networks. Off to the right are 3 small trees, one rooted in diaspora protocol, one in the OStatus protocol, and one in the Zot protocol. The two applications Hubzilla and Friendica connect with Diaspora and OStatus using dotted lines. Socialhome connects to Diaspora. GnuSocial connects to OStatus. Hubzilla connects to Zot. Off to the left are two small trees, one with its roots in the Matrix protocol and the other with its roots in the XMPP protocol. Nexloud connect to XMPP and Matrix. Drupal connects to XMPP.

Chicken fried steak is pretty well known now and onion burgers are slowly gaining prominence, but other favorites of mine like frybread tacos (aka Indian or Navajo tacos), Theta burgers, and fried pies are much less known and man I'm gonna miss having easy access to 'em

It's a burger topped with mayo, pickles, American cheese, and "hickory sauce" - a type of thin, smoky, tangy BBQ-like sauce only found in Oklahoma. Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies from Davis, Oklahoma. These are sort of like empanadas - pie crust wrapped around various fruit or savory fillings, then sealed into a half-moon shape and deep-fried.

Man I wish BlueSky had advanced filtering capabilities like Mastodon... Particularly the option to hide with a warning (for stuff you may sometimes want to engage with but not always) instead of just outright removing stuff from your home timeline. Basically like a local labeler that YOU control.
Mastodon's filter settings. Notably, it gives you flexibility for selecting *where* you want the filter to work, as well as the option to either hide filtered content with a visible warning - or hide filtered content entirely. An example of what a "hidden with a warning" filtered post looks like on Mastodon. The post is not displayed, and there is a banner under the user's PFP that says "Matches filter "NSFW" - Show anyway". If you click on "Show anyway" then the post will be visible.

Determined that Twitter gets pissy if you hit the DeleteTweet api endpoint more than 10x a second - you get rate limited.

I know just enough to figure out where to copy and paste a timeout command into the tweetXer script, slowing it down to ~9x/sec... and voila, no more rate limiting.
