I recently learned that (prior to the newest gen) every spider-like pokemon was designed to have fewer than 8 legs. There might be some consideration for cluttered designs, but the claimed reason was to not trigger arachnophobia.
And I wonder: does that work? Do 6-leg 'spiders' not spook people?
