One of my aunts suffered badly with repeated respiratory infections from an early age. As a child in the 1930s, the only thing that helped her was a special "cough mixture", prescribed by their GP. It contained Heroin.

I wondered whether any canid bones in the archaeological/paeleological record might have been attributed to wolves or dogs, as nothing else was assumed to have been here...

I had long thought it odd that, unlike Asia and the Americas, Europe appears not to have had a jackal/coyote type of canid after the last glacial. But my curiosity was further piqued by the spread of the golden jackal into Europe over the last decade or so.
