Even if either could eventually be the long term answer for the 2C i think it’s doubtful it’ll be this season

Beautifully? It’s doing the job for now. But imo it’s unrealistic to think Dach and Kapanen will be able to fill the middle 6 center roles for the entire season plus playoffs. I trust Hughes & co that if they did bring in Kadri they believe he won’t disrupt the room

Habs have prospects out their rear end and not enough room for all of them. If they can get a short term 2C without giving up a top prospect (Zharovsky/Hage/Reinbacher/Fowler) he should/will do it.

He would still be an upgrade at center, but the price would not be worth it. The perfect fit would be O'Reilly if Preds decide to ever move him. Less term, much better contract, elite on faceoffs and never takes penalties.

Kadri would be too costly for a 35yo with 3 more years on his deal and Zacha is more of a 3C or 2nd line winger and would cost a lot for Bs to trade to Montreal. I don’t think either are realistic targets

Dach is still better than Veleno or Beck at this point. He’s the best option for now until Hughes can acquire one

Wherever he signs it’ll be a short term deal. With so many games missed the last 3 seasons he might be eligible for lower salary and performance bonuses
