Your obnoxious pony, also on fedi: [email protected]

(Actually generally more on fedi tbh.)

Prague 🇨🇿, public transit, "urbanism" (complaining), trains, some cloud computing and Linux, cats, little of everything else.

As predicted, people started making themed custom keyboards for the Chinese year of the horse.

As kind of a horse, I'd want one. But as also predicted, they are so far not doing it within price brackets I am comfortable with in the year of the horse.

TOFU TKL Year of the Horse Limited Edition In anticipation of the 2026 Year of the Horse (the Bingwu year in the lunar calendar), this custom Tofu TKL edition is a tribute to heritage and progress. Th...

lol ok maybe it should have been only the locomotive
For non-French people sharing tributes to Brigitte Bardot: for context, she was a long-time supporter of Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Rally, France’s main far-right party, and later of Éric Zemmour (even further right). And she was convicted for incitement to racial hatred.

The way they flipped the stencil during the repaint makes it look like there’s some ghost behind the supposed girl and it’s actually bit unsettling. (I’m just crazy.)

Hope it was a suspiciously SBU shaped mystery and not just Russian incompetence.

The direct Berlin - Budapest trains are skipping Prague hbf like it’s 2006. I’m howling.

They are now telling you public transit and trams departures in the upcoming station. That’s cool. But it’s 2025 and unlike most European railways, they still cannot tell you if the platform will be on right or left side.

Why did I expect power over ethernet to be reliably in one voltage and not also 12 or 24 volts based on whatever the specific vendor liked.

> Brigitte Bardot, French screen legend, dies aged 91.

One of those cases when I thought she’s some kind of a historic figure who had died in like late 70’s or something.

> Vince Zampella, who co-created the popular video game series Call of Duty, has died in a car crash in California, aged 55.

uh, damn

If there were not enough reasons to hate on the raiffeisen bank, randomly putting credit card repayment due on 19th instead of 23rd (as every month before -- and again for january) is there now too. On the other hand, retail banking market in CZ is not really offering that many choices?

Nixos just randomly decided to compile a linux kernel during an update? What is this, 2005?

I hate red hat's `firewall-cmd`. I don't have a great reason for it, it's probably ok actually, but it just feels miserable, annoying to use, full of pointless idiosyncrasies and completely removed from the actual firewall implementation (which is not a good thing if you took time to learn them).

Maybe it's time to stop hosting half of my life on a half-assed hand installed k8s cluster that I am not trusting to upgrade beyond 1.28 and runs on outdated debian 11 with long failed ansible playbooks...

Once you start noticing all the car damage in the public space, you probably will never enjoy anything again. Sorry.

(Is the railing on the right destroyed by a car? Can't say for sure, but I don't think a person would be able to do this.)

This year is wild.

(Yes, it's a legit "wrap" with actual shopping data with the loyalty card app.)
December 18, 2025 at 3:48 PM
This is not even like true. The poster child for carbrainism I know personally is a guy who drives every day 15 minutes to the office where he could get in 20 on a bus (every 7m or so) and doesn't even need to really go to half of the week because there's a wfh policy.
I know it's too much to read the words that many of us write, but what we are actually mad about are systems that force people into car dependency and policy choices that mean living somewhere walkable and bikeable with robust public transit is ridiculously expensive. We want to fix this!

> Europe’s era of independence must be unstoppable.

That truly sounds like something an eu official would say now the uk is gone (i don’t know about you but it does sound terrible to me).
From trade to energy and our own defence capabilities.

Europe’s era of independence must be unstoppable.

💔 A cat sleeps on the rubble of a destroyed home, where last night his little owner was killed in a Russian drone strike.

Russian terrorists struck the Vasylkivska community in Dnipropetrovsk region. A boy born in 2013 was killed. His parents were injured.

This is cool, but they also dumped few kilos of lead all over that field to remain there for decades.

At some point, anti-air defense has to mean striking to prevent the launches in the first place.
