Power Rangers Wild Force

Definitely not my favorite or the most interesting season in concept or story, intensifies in the back half but therefore sacrifices the good-for-Power Rangers-past-OG character development.

Shift from toy models to CG is eh, but I do like the customizable animal Zords.

Wrapped today’s Rangers batch with Forever Red.

Pretty intense and impactful 20 minutes celebrating the 10th anniversary, teaming up almost (sorry Rocky) all prior Red Rangers.

Crazy to me even a decade into the franchise seeing that not one of these guys was 30 yet here.

I know I watched it all in my teens, but forgot that as introspective as the last couple episodes are, they have nothing on The End of Evangelion.

No way I understood & absorbed any of this 20 years ago, and wild a majority of the series’ memorable iconography is from the movie.

Final Fantasy Tactics 🏆

Spent like a week grinding trophies (maxing abilities/poaching rare items, ugh) but beat and Platinumed.

This is a classic - neat varied mechanics, engaging story - streamlined by this remake. Glad to revisit. But…never enamored me like numbered world-traveling RPG FFs do.

Becky is self-aware enough to know what she's doing, but man Botchamania clips align things so succinctly to my brainwaves sometimes.

Wild to me with everything he’s been through in comics, with ties to basically every major character or group in Marvel canon, the MCU hasn’t found a way to fit in Rick Jones.

I just find it real goofy that like a 300 page physical strategy guide for the Kyrandia trilogy exists, a time someone was able to be paid to write strategy with this level of whimsy & foreshadowing opposed to step by step answers.

Is there time for me to develop a career as a lost media historian?

Glanced at some Trails Beyond the Horizon reviews, and I really need to get back to the series after that first Sky game that took me like 7 months near a year ago. Maybe I can play them episodically, like a town/dungeon a day unbroken over a year or two.

The total lore sicko in me loves this shit.

Also added to my collection of Draculas.

On a fun note, while toy collecting is untenable at the getting-entire-lines rate of a couple years ago, I did ship a big batch of new X-Men.

The new ‘97 wave with Jubilee, Sunspot, Emma Frost, Morph & Cable + Strong Guy, Rachel, Feral, Astonishing cat Beast & Iceman (which completes my OG 5).

X Thoughts

1/3 through 1994, shocked to see Emma Frost’s redemption start way earlier than I realized. Thought it was a Morrison/early 2000s thing.

Lady straight up killed a horse in the ‘80s to manipulate & is now mournful of failing her students while in a coma at the expense of their lives.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

MI halfway point, this may be my favorite. Helped knowing nothing going in.

1 is too pervasive to have avoided osmosis 30 years, 2 has moments but is Cruise as Bond, 3 is solid but kinda dark.

This has the right tone, global full team adventure, serious but fun.

Power Rangers: Time Force

This one’s pretty cool. Personality in the whole crew with focus on each.

Villain’s are fun, fairly nuanced & kinda dark backstory for a kids show of the era.

Antagonistic 6th Ranger is a nice change of pace (though a 2nd Red is a bad color choice, blame Sentai).

Resident Evil: Death Island

Maybe my fav of the CGs. Tempered down from the last & better for it + the older ones are slow and aging visually a bit.

Cool scenes and well paced, the only instance in the franchise of all 4 “main” characters Chris, Jill, Leon & Claire (and Rebecca) working together.

Resident Evil: Heavenly Island

The 2nd ongoing manga. Claire (and Parker from Revelations) deal with an outbreak on set of a supermodel reality show on a South American island.

Sounds fun, again, on the reading backlog, but I can’t set aside to read a 5 tankobon side series immediately.

Resident Evil: Vendetta

These movies are getting dumber and that’s ok.

A Chris/Leon teamup is cool w/ both getting nice looking action sequences, though the latter straight up gets people killed in a highway chase & has an unsettling fuzz goatee.

Also after killing countless, we cure zombie here.

I have reached Spawn #100 and the end of its original storyline. Series is definitely more known for its art than narrative but I especially enjoyed the back 3rd, after a power up, with standalone stories of punishing random sins.

About 200 books and 10 years read in under 5 months.

Finished Spider-Woman

Nothing inherently wrong, but aside the Kingpin episode, not as memorably goofy as I’d hoped like the ‘60s Spider-Man cartoon.

I quite enjoy Jessica Drew comics, so bummed to say fine for the time but can’t see myself rewatching.
December 27, 2025 at 3:33 AM
Finishing up the last episodes of 1979 Spider-Woman, and sooomeeeboddyyy watched Star Wars just before going in to production.

Resident Evil 6

Absolutely feels like refinement on 5. AI is fine, but really designed for co-op.

Incredibly arcade-y and, era of sudden QTEs, leads to plenty of cheap deaths.

Plot is full off the rails & action moments over gameplay. Harmlessly fun enough but maybe least memorable of the series.

Power Rangers is full of bit players going on to other fun roles, but I think one of the craziest pieces of history to me is BEFORE playing Ransik in Time Force, Vernon Wells was the villain in The Road Warrior(Mad Max 2) AND Commando.

Mission Impossible III

Awfully dark & forgettable script imo, notable as Abram’s film directorial debut

Hoffman’s a killer bad guy though(can’t believe he’s been gone almost 12 years)

More fun mid-aughts tv cameos, JJ regular Greg Grunberg & pre-Breaking Bad Aaron Paul as…Ethan’s brother in law?
December 21, 2025 at 3:24 AM
Halfway point of Spider-Woman, not aware it aired just 1 year after the character debuted. Explains lack of known comic villains.

Also Sony IP sale didn’t click until you see it in text, crazy it took re-partnership with Disney and then the Spider-Verse movies to start utilizing so many characters.
December 20, 2025 at 6:05 AM
Crazy realization to me is Sherry Birkin.

6 years older than partner Jake is.

I was still pretty young when the original games released, so it never registered that irl time she’s a year older than me and about to hit 40.

Resident Evil character age updates w/spoilers as of 2026:

Leon is pushing 50 or over in Requiem depending on its timeframe (alleged 2026-2028)

Revelations 2:
Moira Burton (and 6’s Jake Muller) are about 34-35

Natalia Korda (still afaik “possessed” by Alex Wesker) is now 25.
