Setting myself the challenge of only updating my UC Journal in full stanzas of iambic pentameter was probably a bridge too far for December.

Priorities for 2026:
1. Make fewer lists;
2. See point no. 1.

For all the rightful praise of Unai Emery recently, this match is as typical of his career as the previous 11.

I thought last January that, as much as starting to rebuild the team/squad for the future, they were actively creating 'facts on the ground', to shape the situation as 'business as usual' because, well, it must be; we're signing players, aren't we?
Man City have spent more than £500m pounds on new talent since being charged with more than 100 Premier League rule breaches. As another window opens, they’re poised to add another top talent, and still there is no ruling. Shames the Premier League how long it’s taken. Man City deny the allegations

This is some 'first weekdays back after Xmas' type goals, defensively.
Remember like three weeks ago when everybody was writing deeply concerned "Why does nobody score goals in the Premier League anymore?" takes

And now, in the week that Hillsborough survivors and victims' families receive further insulting news about the official justice system providing them with no justice for 97 unlawful killings, more horrific tragedy chanting from the @leedsunited.com fans. Ban every one of them from your ground.
Disgusting tragedy chanting and poverty chanting as usual from @chelseafcofficial.bsky.social

Kerkez having a full pre-season next year is essential, plus Szoboszlai being able to rest a little during the summer will be vital (if we can keep him). So thanks, Ireland.

Great effort by Liverpool FC Women against Chelsea today to get the point, but timewasting while 1-1 at home and fans cheering clearances to nowhere in stoppage time will never sit right with me. Such are the current realities of the club now predictably bottom of the WSL.
