As Hanukkah began, we mourned the lives lost in the horrific Bondi Beach shooting. Even in the face of hatred, the resilience of the Jewish people, and the meaning of Hanukkah, shines through. May this season bring light, remembrance, and hope.

Proud to celebrate a new affordable housing building in the heart of expensive Rosslyn, with rents as low as $1,400/month. @trueground.bsky.social worked with Arlington County, the state, Capital One & other partners to make affordability a reality. See more here: youtu.be/zR3ObnpSq-0

OSIG’s Bon Air review is alarming - years of underfunding, staffing gaps, and MH shortages left 82% of youth without timely required therapy. Commission on Youth lawmakers will be carrying legislation and funding requests to deliver needed reform. We have no time to waste.

Honored to receive the Winston Award from the Arlington County Bar Foundation. Judge Winston was a trail blazer for democratic ideals, social justice & the rule of law. I am committed to making these ideals live. TY to Paul Ferguson, Darcy Hubbard & LG-Elect Hashmi for participating in the program.

Take a moment today to thank a veteran & veterans’ family members for their service & sacrifice. We must never forget that freedom is not free. I’m proud that VA is #1 in veteran’s services for the over 670,000 veterans living in VA. Access resources here: www.dvs.virginia.gov/home

We are NOT overturning the will of the people. Virginians would ultimately have to decide if the General Assembly should be granted this one-time, narrow authority.

Thankfully no one was hurt on LG Winsome Earle-Sears’ bus when it caught on fire this afternoon. Voter outreach is an important part of all campaigns, and I’m relieved to hear everyone is okay.

Best wishes to Winsome and her team for a safe conclusion to her campaign.

The Senate is set to review HJ6007. We are considering this option b/c Trump is trying to memorialize his unpopular policies that are hurtful to many Virginians and undermine the democratic process by urging R states to redraw districts.

@barbarafavola.bsky.social:--Congress & Trump are making choices that hurt real life voters--SNAP cuts, health care spikes, etc. And democracy RIDES on the notion that if we don't like what our elected leaders do, we can VOTE THEM OUT. And Trump's interference in TX undoes that!

I was honored to participate today in Arlington Historical Society & the Black Heritage Museum’s dedication of “Stumbling Stones”, a project that memorializes enslaved individuals in my neighborhood and throughout Arlington. May we never forget our history.

In 2024, approximately 828,000 hardworking Virginians, faced with the choice of paying rent or going hungry, received SNAP benefits to feed their families. The heartless actions by Trump & his allies to deny working families food so billionaires get tax cuts - speaks volumes.
