My debut scifi novel Of Monsters and Mainframes is coming out in June 2025. It's about computers dealing with a whole aisle of Halloween monsters and maybe falling in love in space. 🚀🧛🐺🦑🌈

Just found out about the trio winning the nobel prize for medicine, and thank god, 'cause I needed some good news today.

Possible treatments for immune disorders, cancers, organ transplants, and arthritis? Insane. This is amazing.

People who say I should use AI instead of writing my stories piss me off so much. I have been sharpening this stick since I was wee. I ain't putting it down just 'cause you think another stick is sharper. Fuck you. I like my stick.

If the worry is crowd crush, just redirect people into the gardens (big open area right next door). Or, make it a loop, Hyde Park to Hyde Park. I feel like there's workable options here. The Bendigo Writers' Festival also had this two-days-before-the-event rug pull. Kinda a shit look, tbh.

The Palestine Action Group had expected 40,000 people to attend the rally on Sunday.

Sometimes you read a first chapter of a book at 430 AM while your toddler falls back asleep on your chest and then suddenly the kid is fast asleep but you don’t want to stop reading bc sleep isn’t That important and DAMN this book is good.

Was going through my photos and found some old pics of me playing in steam. I was 30 in these pics, but I've always loved playing in steam. Best part of going to railway museums: the steam.

This week has been a bit bumpy. Actually, really bumpy. Too fucking bumpy. I've been feeling those bumps, is what I'm sayin'.

But, on the plus side, the librarians on tumblr found and old post of mine and they've been sending me a lot of highly strange messages (my favourite kind).

Researchers in Spain have developed a new intranasal COVID-19 vaccine that eliminates the virus in mice.

One dose gave 60% protection, but two intranasal doses achieved 100% protection with no detectable virus in nasal or lung tissue, suggesting sterilizing immunity.

THE MOON! The moon tonight is so beautiful. Not even a whisker, just a whisk. So new she's practically premature. No, I did not take a photo. My phone is from 2017 and occasionally turns super hot when she gets scared.

Why are planes always so cold? Please, pilots, have mercy. The sky radiation is not enough for my bones.

We could be 5 to 10 years from toothpaste that can regrow tooth enamel.

The scales are beginning to tip in favor of Mars once sustaining life. We’ll potentially know for sure by 2040.

The blue macaw is up to 160 individuals from an all-time low of 7, and confirmed to be breeding in the wild.

Please give me an unironic list of things that have gotten better over the last ten years because I’m spiraling.

I’ll start: you can buy an enormous TV from Costco for like $100 bucks now.

My brain is so stupid. I love it so much. I get drunk on 0% beer. Why? It's 0%. I know it's 0%. But somehow, knowing that it's a placebo doesn't stop it from placeboing. I taste the silly water and so I get silly. Stupid, foolish, lovely brain.

I want to see them. If they're dead, I want to see their little bacteria fossils. If the only thing remaining is a biochemical footprint, I want to see the footprint. If they're alive, I want them safe. I hope we find alien life in my lifetime. I hope I hope I hope...

This whole 'there might've been life on mars' thing has me crossing my fingers and toes like a little kid on xmas eve.

a digital drawing of two werewolves against a green background. one is shades of red with a tan underbelly and wearing a crescent moon necklace, the other is shades of brown with a grey underbelly, glasses, and a light brown baseball cap. the red wolf is tapping a pen against a notebook with writing in it. the grey wolf is playing a nintendo switch with purple and orange joycons. the red wolf has a speech bubble with an emoji of a full moon, the grey wolf responds with a speech bubble with an emoji of a vampire

In my experience, courage is usually the product of love and/or solidarity. When we are deeply invested in each other, we are more likely to take risks that we wouldn't take out of mere principle, or for the sake of people we feel disconnected from. Our alienation mass produces cowardice.

"Flooding the zone" is so stupid. Bored of watching five fast people run a race? How about a million shuffling zombies that the same five fast people have to elbow through before they can run the exact same race! In the end, people are still going to listen to the good podcasts. What's the point?

It's 2025. I'm so bored of news outlets giving failed AI spam companies airtime. If this didn't have venture capital, it wouldn't have anything. The people who use AI (depressingly) use it for personal ego boosts. Eg, LARPing as authors, artists, lovers, etc. Not even they want someone else's slop.
