I hate to be that guy. But I have friends who are genuinely terrified of dogs and I see so many dog owners who think “oh surely you don’t mean MY dog.”
Yeah. Your dog. I’m happy you have a companion you love, but that isn’t a license to let them loose on the public.

If you want to let your dog run without a leash, let it do so in a controlled environment like your yard or a designated dog park.
This rant is from a parent who used to enjoy hiking in parks with his kids but is tired of warding off dogs that are off leash and intimidating my kids.

If you want to let your dog run without a leash, let it do so in a controlled environment like your yard or a designated dog park.

I don’t care how “well behaved” you say they are. They are animals. They will do animal things. They will harm the environment. They will terrify people and animals who are smaller than your dog. Even some people who are larger than your dog will be terrified because they don’t know your dog.

I have strong opinions about people letting dogs off leash in public spaces, not just state and federal lands where it’s expressly forbidden.
Not everyone likes dogs.
Not everyone likes YOUR dog.
Not everyone likes your dog running loose around them with no sense of control.
