Ran a local half marathon with my son, and set a new PB. Very pleased to smash the two-hour barrier. It was tough, but I recovered from an early slump and felt better in the second half. Saw a woodpecker and twice ran past two men discussing photography. #Running #UKRunChat

Ran a slow and weary 6.5K, trying not to collide with all the dogs. It felt like I was merely grinding it out today, but three hellos lifted my spirits. #Running #UKRunChat

Waited for the rain to stop, then ran 15K. Knocked 17 seconds off my best time for that distance, and thankfully my knee didn’t hurt. One hello. No exotic wildlife – the “monster lizard” in the long grass turned out to be merely a large, wet log. #Running #UKRunChat

Ran 7.5K. Saw three cats (two of them engaged in combat). Three men with leaf blowers were noisily and pointlessly moving compost from A to B. Felt a worrying ache in my right knee, but it eased so I pressed on and got my fastest ever time for this distance. #Running #UKRunChat

Ran 15K in bracing winds and dazzling sunlight. A dachshund went for my ankles. The owner called him off and apologised. Saw a fox trotting along a quiet road. Unintentionally matched my previous fastest 15K (Feb 2024) to the exact second. Two friendly hellos. #Running #UKRunChat

Ran 6.5K. It was chilly enough (“feels like 2°”) that I needed gloves for the first time since last winter. Saw a heron flying over – quite beautiful. Another glorious sunrise. #Running #UKRunChat

Ran 6.5K on wet, slippery leaves. Saw a lady feeding the crows. One dog walker said hello. At various points I was treated to the distinctive aromas of car fumes, wacky baccy and schoolboy aftershave. The sun rising over the fields looked beautiful. #Running #UKRunChat

Ran the Battersea Park half marathon. Did the first 10K with a pacer and the second 10K with a bunch of grapes – a nice lady trying to beat the world record for “fastest marathon by a fruit”. She got a lot of good crowd support. Managed my second best HM time. #Running #UKRunChat

Ran 5K. It was grey and windy. I found it chilly, but saw the old man who goes walking without his shirt on (wearing just shorts and boots) and he seemed warm enough. Two hellos. A lot of dogs. #Running #UKRunChat

Ran 16K. Saw a squirrel nearly get run over. Three hellos (two of them from the same runner at different points along the route). Wore my Richmond RunFest shirt and saw another runner wearing an older shirt from the same event. #Running #UKRunChat

Ran 6.5K. It was overcast but dry. A lot of car fumes. One hello. Saw a beautiful ginger cat. #Running #UKRunChat
October 10, 2025 at 7:59 AM
Ran 7.5K and was just four seconds off my fastest time for that distance. Took the more “urban” route. There was a little rain. Spent most of my time dodging dodgy dogs and tricky traffic. #Running #UKRunChat

Ran 16K in strong winds left over from Storm Amy. It was clear that there had been a battering, with sticks across the paths. Crunchy acorns, too. Had a phone call asking me to come home to give a lift, so raced back and ended up with my fastest ever 16K time. #Running #UKRunChat
October 5, 2025 at 10:25 AM
Stormy weather. Ran 6.5K in strong winds and light rain. Saw a pied wagtail. One hello (elderly man with elderly greyhound) and no cats. #Running #UKRunChat
October 3, 2025 at 10:31 AM
Ran 6.5K. The few spots of rain were quite refreshing. Two people said hello, including my own wife, who drove past at the 3K mark. Saw a nice ginger cat and a bike boy doing wheelies on the way to school. #Running #UKRunChat
October 1, 2025 at 7:59 AM
Ran 15K. It was sunny but there were huge dark clouds gathering in the distance. Five people said hello. Saw four cats, two cycle clubs and one pied wagtail. #Running #UKRunChat
September 28, 2025 at 9:19 AM
Ran 7.5K. Another two-shirter, although I could have survived with just one. Took the more urban route. No hellos and no cats, but plenty of car fumes. #Running #UKRunChat
September 26, 2025 at 8:05 AM
Ran 6.5K in chilly winds and a few spots of rain. It was cold enough for me to wear two tops. Passed one cat and one wacky baccy smoker. #Running #UKRunChat
September 24, 2025 at 8:40 AM
Didn’t sleep much, so felt weary. Ran 12K in strong blasts of wind left over from last night’s storm. A garden fence and some big branches had come down but thankfully no entire trees. Two people said hello. Saw five cats, which may be the most so far. #Running #UKRunChat
September 21, 2025 at 9:33 AM
A warm morning. Ran 6.5K in the exact same time as on Wednesday. Three people said hello. At the edge of the playing field car park I was startled to see a large brown rat scurrying along. #Running #UKRunChat

Ran 6.5K in rain and wind, with no major aches or pains from Sunday’s half. Highlight: the prehistoric beauty of a heron landing by the river a few metres ahead of me and then taking off again. #Running #UKRunChat
September 17, 2025 at 7:56 AM
Ran Richmond half marathon. Weather was ideal: not too warm and the rain held off. Cut more than four minutes off last year’s time, so am pleased with that – especially since the revised course was more difficult. Thanks to Emily and Sam for setting the pace. #Running #UKRunChat
September 14, 2025 at 2:58 PM
Ran 7.5K – my final training for the half marathon at the weekend. It was windy but dry – until the sky turned black and the rain started just as I finished. Two nice hellos. #Running #UKRunChat
September 10, 2025 at 7:48 AM
Very tired, but managed a 12K. Saw two cats (including the local bully). One hello. One abandoned shopping trolley. Many dogs running wild and free. #Running #UKRunChat
September 6, 2025 at 9:02 AM
Ran 6.5K with a cold. Thought I’d found a gap between rain showers but I still managed to get soaked during the final kilometre. Two people said hello. A very excitable dog went for me and had to be called off by its shouty owner. #Running #UKRunChat
