The Welsh electorate voted Leave in 2016.

Haven't they done this before, to some degree? I think the ESTA application used to ask for details of social media accounts.

Probably the same as the English, all told.

Do you have evidence that enough people who matter hate Vance? Not something I'd heard of previously, but happy to be educated.

Europe has been underestimating its own power, especially towards Russia.
We should be more self confident.

The United States is still our biggest ally.
And it's in the interest of the U.S. that we work together.

Your "stronger Europe" is currently licking America's boots.

In all likelihood they wouldn't have done that.

Running from federal officers usually results in them chasing you however.

Why did she run away? If you don't want federal officers to chase you, don't take off running.

Sure they have - with boot licking statements such as this?

So the Welsh electorate then. That's who voted Leave in 2016.

Their economy is stagnant yet they remain the largest contributors to the EU budget. Perhaps they want us to help pay for it all again?

Problem is if you treat visa overstays in the same manner as parking tickets, there would be no incentive for anyone to obey immigration law. Penalties have to be tougher. Most countries look to deport those who violate immigration law.

Ed is a complete hypocrite on this.
Whenever Ed Davey & the Lib Dems advocate a customs union with the rest of Europe he should be reminded that if he hadn’t whipped his MPs to vote against Ken Clarke’s #Brexit amendment in 2019, we might have got one.

That officer isn't with ICE. He's with Border Patrol. Look at his uniform badges.

Maybe check before you post this stuff?

She admitted to overstaying her visa. Is your point that she should be treated differently because she's British?

She admits to being an overstayer. Those are grounds for removal under the law.

Not sure what the story is here, the US should treat her differently because she's British?

It was also popular following Lib Dem promises around holding a referendum. This was repeated in their 2010 manifesto, which you were a fan of at the time.

You made the bold claim re a "shining hill". I and others challenged it.

It's factually not as simple as "every EU citizen can now marry and live an unhindered family life anywhere in the EU." Perhaps one day, but not now.

Meanwhile, even the US has managed to be more progressive in this respect.

She didn't have a green card in the first place. She entered under ESTA and tried to stay in the US while her IR1 was processing. She should have used the K1 route.
November 26, 2025 at 10:09 AM
Another issue is that ESTA isn't a visa, so she wasn't adjusting from one visa to another. She should have left and awaited IR1.
November 26, 2025 at 10:08 AM
The article appears wrong on this point:

"She was allowed to remain legally in the US while applying for the green card because she married Stephen, who is an American."

You can adjust status from one visa to another but ESTA isnt a visa, so she had to leave after 90 days and await IR1 processing
