Here's the crux of the problem. Lucia "needs" an SUV so she can drive her 3 sons to the bus stop to get the bus to school.

I'll bet the bus stop is a 5 minute walk from their house. 10 minutes at most.

@heidialexander.bsky.social why no government subsidy to help families move towards ebikes or cargo bikes? In plenty of cases, families could avoid having a car altogether if cargo bikes were an affordable option.

Another article here that, through the headline, implies that e-bikes are the problem here and not a car, being driven into someone on an e-bike.

We don't refer to pedestrians being knocked over as "pedestrian crashes". The e-bike is totally irrelevant.

The reason the yellow box is so big is because the opening of that junction is enormous. There's no need for a 40m mouth. It must be horrendous crossing that junction as a pedestrian but as usual, we just focus on the driver experience.

Tragic news about Diogo Jota this morning. Tyres can blow out at any speed but far more likely at high speeds yet we continue to normalise road deaths as a result of speeding. These tragedies are so avoidable. 😢

This is embarrassing. Walking into a crowd of people with a gun & start firing it at them because they don't get out of your way would be attempted murder, so why isn't using a car the same? If anything, the car is more dangerous in that situation than a gun would be.
