these games suck but at least they remind everyone this team needs to stay the course on the retool. my one fear is that the isles are in a low playoff spot this season and start trading off first round picks and getting nothing for UFAs

i think part of the problem is that functionally the top sports leagues *are* a luxury product. there's better value elsewhere in sports. but the leagues have realized what you're paying for is the *atmosphere* over watching elsewhere, and they're responding by trying to ~elevate that atmosphere
You can feel this development if you go to any sporting events, every team is pushing luxury packages for a few thousand fans and trying to make the other 50,000 people in the stadium feel left out

been watching heated rivalry and i think the main storyline is pretty bad (although i get why it's the one that they picked to adapt), but this most recent bottle episode that is apparently based on the first book in the series is pretty good

hbo max was in a genuinely great position (lots of good ip, big blockbuster movies streamed quickly on hbo max, trusted to make new high quality originals) and then… zaslav
I remember very clearly lots of people telling me some years ago that Netflix was in deep trouble from HBO MAX and this is a very funny coda to all of that
