We really need Anglophone journalists in the UK, Canada, and Australia to start writing about the political situation in the US using the same kind of language they use when writing about political situations in developing countries. "the regime", "dissidents", "the regime's secret police", etc.

Dat is nog niet eens factchecken, maar dat is ervanuitgaan dat elke woordvoerder geen persoon is die feiten geeft, maar een PR-doel dient, en in het nastreven van dat doel geen middel schuwt.

Vanuit dat uitgangspunt stel je de relevante vragen.

De Nederlandse pers zou het begrip "kwade trouw" eens moeten opzoeken.

Partijen die keer op keer simpelweg liegen of de feiten verdraaien mag je allereerst dáár op bevragen, in plaats van elke uitspraak als zoete koek te slikken en zonder commentaar te plaatsen.
