Today we set up our "source to surface" #volcano activity as part of #BritishScienceWeek at the #ManchesterMuseum 🌋🌋🌋

Plus a united effort from our department at #UniversityOfManchester in the form of stamp-able cards representing the breadth of #EarthScience research 🌍🌌🌿🪨🦖

I do love a good volcano-themed bake, embroidery project and #swiftie + #geophysics cross-over events...

My #PhD was focused on #AscensionIsland where I investigated eruption dynamics using compositional analyses, #Fieldwork & studies of bubble textures in pumice. I also had the privilege to work on rocks from the 2020-21 eruption of La Soufrière St Vincent as part of the monitoring effort!

A little thread of introduction!
I am a #volcanologist currently at The University of Manchester imaging melt inclusions trapped in olivine in 3D to investigate inclusion-host relationships that help us interpret records of deep mantle compositions & their impact on eruptive processes!

Melt inclusions have a similar shape to the crystallographic axes of the host crystal.
