For as much as I drive Interstate 80 for work, it's not often that I've seen it shut down in both eastbound and westbound directions. That's exactly what's happened over in Iowa today a little bit west of where I live.

Past midnight while it's snowing and I'm out in my sleep pants and slippers cleaning off an area in the grass for my chihuahuas to do their business for second time this evening. I hope it reasonably holds up through the morning.

Not fond of 05:00 wake-up calls. 11+ hours later I’m at a rest area sucking down a Mountain Dew to stay awake for the last 40 miles of the drive back after finishing today’s job 400 mi round trip. The second coffee didn’t help. Driving with windows open in sub-30° temps perked me up for about 50 mi.

My area is in the middle of a 24-hour period of falling snow, expecting at least of foot of it. I’m wanting to stay naked and snuggled in a warm bed but my two dogs are telling me otherwise.

I'll be on PTO next week. This morning I was sent a job to run Monday. I emailed my team lead to remind him of my PTO. He replied, "You can run it tomorrow. You're on-call." I had to stop from responding TF I am. OC weeks runs Sat-Fri. Now I have to tell them if I can't be OC on pre-PTO weekends. 🙄

Heading to Christkindlmarket Chicago this weekend. Should be fun, even though after mentioning it for years it took someone else asking to make my man finally interested in going. It will be my first trip into the city via Metra.

My partner introduced me to the Final Destination movies last night. It was late enough that we called it a night by the middle of the third movie. For someone who's not the biggest fan of horror movies, I surprised him by the amount of laughing I was doing at the various demises.
