Every year on Memorial Day, I share this video of French caretakers who take sand from Omaha Beach in Normandy, and scrub them into the letters to give them the gold coloring.
They do this for all 9,386 US soldiers who died.
France also gave us this land as American soil.

Visited the beaches at Normandy. The Omaha cemetery was incredibly moving. We cried at the valor and loss of life knowing we’d return to a fascist regime in DC. How could this have happened?

Dinner last night in Trastevere. It was the final night of a seventeen day vacation. We had pasta carbonara and arrabbiata, roast lamb, tiramisu, multiple cocktails and red wine, all of which sang in our mouths.
