O.M.G. I loved NIMONA, so I knew SCARLET MORNING would be good, but...WOW! The story is complicated and layered and yet seamlessly plotted. And the way Stevenson creates such different personalities for Wilmer and Viola AND still makes their bond believably unbreakable is brilliant #kidlit 📚👍🏻

I've decided that the best way to keep myself inspired about writing nonfiction for kids is to read about science & history things that fascinate me. Heading into 2026 with this book. Thank goodness for skilled. engaging science writers. #kidlit #nonfiction #science #geology

I LOVE Jennifer K. Mann's THE RIDING LESSON. Took me straight back to when I was a kid, growing up around people with horses, experiencing both the dream and the reality. This is what informational fiction can do. ❤️

Met @nancyhudgins.com in San Carlos for lunch & our first trip to The Reading Bug. What an incredible bookstore! Found two gorgeous picture books I hadn't even heard of. And thanks to Nancy for gifting me a copy of CAT NAP by @brianlies.bsky.social. I've been wanting this one for a while!

This new Libby feature has shown up just as I dropped into one of those occasional, random, miserable reading slumps where I can't find anything to read. You can't filter down very many layers and each set of options only offers 5 books, but it's making me happy this morning.

Spent a few minutes in @hicklebees.bsky.social today and picked up a copy of this absolutely lovely picture book biography by @shrurao.bsky.social. Written beautifully around complex science and complex emotional paths, as clear and engaging as a PB bio should be. ❤️

Had an amazing day at the #scbwiohionorth conference. The books (and the fantastic critique inside the folder!) are my physical takeaways, but I'm also refueled with happiness, inspiration, and hope. Huge thank you to all the SCBWI folx and the faculty who made this conference happen.

My nephew recommended BLOOD OVER BRIGHT HAVEN by M. L. Wang to me, and it is one of the most brilliant fantasy/sci-fi novels I've ever read. Heads up, it's grim, and the ending is VERY bleak, especially with the way life feels these days. But, to me, the ending felt absolutely right for the story.
