My ex and I had kids way too soon into the relationship, so when the mask came off and the yelling started, I was stuck being financially dependent and also reliant for help with childcare on a person who has a vested interest in continuing this dynamic. It is so hard to get out.

My husband let his parents stay with us for far too long and they just wanted to watch tv and movies, this was the only movie I picked that they asked me to turn off because they hated it so much- right in the middle of the ash spreading scene. Didn’t know I could love that movie more.

Yes! And if she were really desperate for the help, she would have used that opportunity to get to know OP and allowed them to help her as a couple instead of deliberately wedging them apart. She sucks and he sucks too for treating his wife like a placeholder. Hope husband 2 is just incredible.

I never see clouds or fog rolling down from the top of a mountain without thinking about it- and the last time I saw that movie, it was in theaters.

Get financially independent as quickly as possible. Put the kids in day care- there are free options or scholarships. Open your own bank account. Work, save. Find where you’re moving to, get your paperwork in order, serve him the papers when you are safely gone.
