Had a look at the "study" the article is based on.

They take a couple with children then assume the couple claim maximum disability benefits for themselves and the kids on top of UC and housing.

They then assume the working couple claim nothing at all....

Now they want the RNLI.

Do we we know of the passenger was a British citizen? The RNLI should ask to see their passport before fishing them out.

This seems to cover this situation exactly.

If the US is "at war" with the drug cartels, as the administration claims, surely this would constitute a pretty clear cut war crime?

I mean, one of the four gospels was written by an ex-tax collector.

Parents and teaches owe him some gratitude for this. I cannot think of anything that will make a playground dance or catchphrase less cool to a primary child than the prime minister doing it - except maybe their own parents doing it.

If I didn't want people randomly deported from the UK then I wouldn't say we need to vigorously enforce a policy which is known to do exactly that.

I don't want leopards to eat people's faces but we should aggressively pursue the policy of releasing hungry face eating leopards into populated areas.

He says we need to use "the same vigour" as US, then specifically calls out the Trump approach of "snatching suspected" (not "known") which is a policy designed to strike fear into non-white communities as he knows given his anecdote about Latino parents (again not "illegal" but "Latino")

Waitrose are canceling Christmas too!

Look at this plate - the word Christmas doesn't appear at all!

Disgraceful

I blame Sadiq Kahn.

Would this not be some sort of defamation of the BBC?

Attacking it's integrity will have real and probably quantifiable financial and reputational consequences.

I assume Trump is protected by presidential immunity in the US, but presumably not in the UK.

... and he does have property here...

I have to admit to having only speed read the article the first time but I didn't remember anything about the power build out being solar...

All I found in a search later was this, which says it would be good *if* the build out was solar (and nuclear) - which I 100%.agree with....

And I hear our pork exports to the middle east are underperfroming her expectations.

If only there were some cheese loving countries close to the UK.

I imagine JD Vance will be calling on the UK government to stop infringing free speech. Maybe he'll get Trump to raise it with King Charles when they meet.

Or the fact he attended for 1 semester before dropping out to go to technical collage as an apprentice electrician.

I don't know about the US but over here technical colleges are not what you would characterise as leftie - especially the building related courses.

There was defo a hunt on for her. Which I detest. The media hounds some people whilst others (cough Farage cough) walk around in broad daylight doing worse with the media doing a nelson

It doesn't appear his position is quite as blunt as "leave NATO"

More "we need to think about being bound by art 5 when the biggest member seems to have a habit of declaring emergencies and using the military"

What would we do if Trump declared a Venezuelan gang shooting an attack on the US?
September 4, 2025 at 11:07 AM
That doesn't appear to be quite right.

He seems to be calling for a rethink of the Uk's NATO relationship (and what alternatives could be put in place) in light of the US becoming unreliable.

Which is a fair enough point.

Meanwhile, in a Freudian slip, the painters of red crosses on things have got more creative with their art.
