... when what the graphs actually show is a couple on UC with 3 kids get about £23k a year, which is less than one of them working full time on living wage.

Had a look at the "study" the article is based on.

They take a couple with children then assume the couple claim maximum disability benefits for themselves and the kids on top of UC and housing.

They then assume the working couple claim nothing at all....

Fingers crossed eh

Yes but that doesn't stop it being a war crime under the GC and various bits of US domestic and military law provide penalties if a US citizen or service member commits a war crime as defined by the GC.

Some soldiers have been convicted under those laws (then pardoned by Trump)

This seems to cover this situation exactly.

I mean, one of the four gospels was written by an ex-tax collector.
November 28, 2025 at 2:04 PM
Famously, Jesus's parents traveled to Bethlehem for a weekend city break and not for a census to aid the state in collecting taxes.

I have no idea how we got into some sort of fight BTW? From your profile it looks like we'd agree on a bunch of stuff.

Are you sure you didn't misread one of my posts or maybe thought someone else's post was mine?

I basically want to increace taxes on ICE and make a shift to EVs easier.
November 27, 2025 at 8:33 PM
Eh?

I thought I left all this crap behind when in ditched twitter.

"road tax" (or car tax) was what people called it for years - "shit gotta tax my car next week" - "oh no, I lost my tax disc"

But you do you.
November 27, 2025 at 8:29 PM
VED is what was colloquially known as "road tax" (which as yoh say hasn't been a real thing for a long time).

You pay it annually and it used to just be a flat fee based on engine size and a round disc to put in your windscreen - which we stopped 10 years or so ago.
November 27, 2025 at 7:29 PM
VED isn't on fuel, it's "road tax", the thing you used to pay to get a disc to put on your windscreen.

Keep fuel duty (as you say) which is a milage tax on ICE (and a hard one to avoid).

Then add pence per mile (graded by co2 or kwh/mi)

Maybe have tax disc priced as 1k miles which you get free.
November 27, 2025 at 7:07 PM
Which could be done as a per mile tax in the same way as EVs....

So cars have per mile tax, including ice.

Your VED is (say) 1k miles

ICE pay fuel duty on top.

Thus, sell for EVs is lower cost per mile. Easy to see.
November 27, 2025 at 3:15 PM
Reasonable point - it was more for consistency across fuels so people could "see" the difference per mile.

Otherwise people mightnonkynseenthr "pay per mile for EVs" and be put off even if cheaper.
November 27, 2025 at 11:57 AM
If people genuinely enjoy"a flutter" then they will be happy to pay.

If they have get wucked in and lose too much, they can always get their money back and it's up to the gambling Co if they want to keep serving a customer who keeps taking their money back when thry lose.
November 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM
My prescription would be
A) all gambling co's.must be licenced.
B) all payments for stakes must be via card/electronic payment
C) the "charge back" function for any disputed payments to a licenced gambling Co is always granted, no questions asked, no downside for customer.
November 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM
If we are going per mile then go all in.

Put a per mile tax on all vehicles based on total weight and mi/kwh (or co2/mi for ICE)

Aim to incentivise smaller, more efficient vehicles over SUVs etc
November 27, 2025 at 4:56 AM
And the beauty (from the far right perspective) is that even if the government did release it's estimates the far-right can get just as much milage by just claiming they are intentionally under estimating and the true figure, according to renowned expert @FlagPatriot29937, is +2 million

If I didn't want people randomly deported from the UK then I wouldn't say we need to vigorously enforce a policy which is known to do exactly that.

I don't want leopards to eat people's faces but we should aggressively pursue the policy of releasing hungry face eating leopards into populated areas.

Would he advocate a program of stopping black drivers of high end cars based on the suspicion they may be driving a stolen vehicle as a the average earnings of a black person are less than a white person therfore they are less likely to be able to afford the nice car?
November 25, 2025 at 8:27 AM
TP is not a stupid man he knows how to use language.

This isn't "clumsy word choice".

He is advocating for a US style program which includes snatching people off the street based on racial characteristics (a key part of the US policy) which results in racial groups fearing to go out on the street
November 25, 2025 at 8:20 AM
He says we need to use "the same vigour" as US, then specifically calls out the Trump approach of "snatching suspected" (not "known") which is a policy designed to strike fear into non-white communities as he knows given his anecdote about Latino parents (again not "illegal" but "Latino")
November 25, 2025 at 8:16 AM
Does this mean it's OK for someone to throw a milkshake over a controversial frog faced politician - as long as they didn't mean it in a hurtful or insulting way?
