That is 100% what they were. Not like, parboiled or soaked either. Cut potato in fourth, throw in hot oil. They sucked.

I forget which place this was. It was very visually impressive, but, not the best tenderloin I’ve had. That still goes to Lou’s Diner in Cloverdale. Though, it’s been years, so, can’t guarantee that still. Second best was a restaurant in Muncie that was burned down for insurance money.

It has slightly more noise, but, also better color accuracy over ISO 800, a thing the D700 really struggled with. I don’t miss that pervasive yellow tint.

Anyway, I dunno, Panasonics aren’t bad. But to me they feel like they’re slightly less in every measure I care about. If I thought otherwise, I’d own them instead. The imaging pipeline in the E-M1.2/E-M5.3 is what finally convinced me it was equal to my D700.

Clearly, I imagine your clients respect you in a way I will never understand.

I tried a G9. On paper it was equal to my E-M1.2 of the time, and a lot cheaper. We sold it after a year and bought a second E-M1.2 and never looked back. The E-M5.3 has the same imaging pipeline as the E-M1.2, but in the smaller, lighter body, hence the rec.

I don’t like Panasonics. They didn’t get phase-detect auto-focus until just this generation (G9 Mk II), their lenses focus slower, their weather-sealing isn’t as good, and the E-M1 Mark II on have better low-light performance. Panasonic is for video, Olympus is for outdoor stills.

‘Because it’s what I own’ is a fantastic reason to use a camera

It’s a Walter Dorwin Teague design (and I think one of his more refined ones)

Look at that cheap thing. It doesn’t even have a single grip!

Yes yes, and a Charmera. Gotta make sure the kids think they’re lame.

(My load-out is my digital OM-1 with five lenses, a Pentax 17, and the Frankenstone loaded with Ektar, a tripod, an ELB 500 kit with stands, brellies, and triggers, and an Autoknips for the ‘stone)

I don't know all of the other canons and stories, but, before this -all- of the ones I had encountered expanded the story by figuring out how to keep ever-expanding the scope of the war. And EarthSpark's core question of "and what if they tried to find peace?" seems a refreshing take to me.

I know I'm just a dirty geewun casual (by merit of really only ever having engaged consistently with that version), but, the whole precept that eternal war isn't unavoidable and that redemption is the goal is like, a really import shift in context I think

Yes spellcheck, the band's name gives me a small eye-twitch too, but I spelled it right I promise
