Some good news from Washington.
Some good news. This did not happen by itself. Congratulations, advocates!
Thanks to pressure from educators and parents, the nearly $7 billion in school funding withheld by Trump has finally been released.

Unfortunately, this reckless delay undermined planning, staffing, and support services at a time when schools should be focused on preparing students for success.

A new report shows per-pupil spending in Wisconsin 10% below the national average. The budget that was passed and signed on July 3 will almost certainly make matters worse. Since 2002, we have fallen from 11th in the nation in per-pupil spending to 26th. wispolicyforum.org

Great books to read and teach -- and to protect from bans.
The #ReadAcrossAmerica theme for June is all about lifting others up — because every student deserves to feel seen, supported, and empowered. 📚 Whether you’re planning a read-aloud or adding to your classroom library, these books are a great place to start: bit.ly/4kGXnQy

The Trump administration knows private school vouchers have failed in Congress and been rejected by voters, so they're using an executive order to push them through anyway—at the expense of 90% of students who attend public schools.

The Trump Administration is now threatening to withhold funding from schools that teach the whole history of America. This executive order is unnecessary and punitive. It does nothing to help educators inspire their students to learn and to give them the resources needed to succeed.

Vouchers have been a catastrophic failure—everywhere. They drain funding from neighborhood public schools, where 90% of students learn, and leave behind those who need support the most. If Trump were serious about helping kids, he'd invest in smaller class sizes, educator pay, and more resources.
