Unemployment in the UK is currently around 1.7m, and not all of those claim benefits.

The entire population of those cities is about 2m people, and that includes children and retired folks.

No one gets Motability assistance *for* ADHD. It's just that some people with ADHD have mobility issues.

Right now, there are six and a half million working age adults claiming benefits instead of working.

You heard me right – six and a half million.

That is the entire population of Cardiff and Belfast and Glasgow and Manchester combined being paid to sit at home all day.

We cannot expect people to get up and go to work and pay more and more in taxes to subsidise millions of others not to work …

We have done the hard work, and we have a plan to cut welfare spending.

First, British benefits for British citizens. It is common sense that you should not draw out of a system that you haven’t paid into.

Second, we will restrict benefits to those with the more severe mental health conditions, not anxiety or mild depression. Yes, these challenges are real and people should get support, but they cannot be treated as a reason for a lifetime of work.

And third, we will restrict Motability vehicles to people with serious disabilities. Those cars are not for people with ADHD.

As a guy with crohn's disease who often has to ask to use bathrooms in cafes etc on the fly, I just wanna say that it is always morally correct to refuse to let ICE to use your toilets. If they rupture their bowel and shit themselves to death in your doorway, that's what big wheelie bins are for.

@nikeshshukla.bsky.social wrote a good piece that addresses this stuff and touches on why it might be counterproductive to try to "reclaim" the flag the other day for the Bristol Cable, and yeah I've heard a lot of other people reiterate that also just see it and have a trauma response to it.

The answer to this is not to engage with the discussion or the iconography at all. It's not to try and win them over, or to try and "reclaim" the flag. It is to make them afraid of the consequences of being involved in any of this bullshit to begin with.

4. To provide plausible deniability and legitimacy and a pretext for escalation. "I'm not racist, I'm just patriotic". You can take the flags down or you can "reclaim" the flag. Either way, the people putting them up then feel justified in replacing them with something more overt.

3. To harrass and intimidate minoritised communities.

The areas that these have been put up in have been intentionally targeted. These flags, and the intensity of their distribution is fully intentional. The people distributing them know that they are a threat of violence.

2. To stochastically (i.e., probabilistically) encourage violence against people who oppose people putting flags up. We've seen attacks against council workers for removing them, and even organised groups of men going around specifically targeting council workers for doing so. It trains violence.

The purpose of putting these flags up consists of four elements:

1. To radicalise individuals by means of getting them used to carrying out clandestine, nighttime activities which may or may not be legal.

On the left people call it "killing the cop in your head". It's a training exercise.

The people putting these flags up aren't a grassroots movement, they're being astroturfed via Tommy Robinson and Turning Point by US Christian Nationalist money, and the second their message starts to get lost you'll see all those flags replaced by British Movement or BNP or Britain First ones.

The solution to this is not to "reclaim the flag", because fascism is a synchretic movement that can pick up and discard symbols and ideas at a whim. The solution is to destroy fascism.
