the traffic cameras aren't revenue positive. fy 25 budgeted 23.4 mill for operation on ~15 mill collected fines; fy26's expected budget notes no expected capital improvements will be funded by fine revenue either. "what they're doing with the revenue" is mostly just paying for the cameras + contract

what's frustrating about the underlying infographic this quote tweet references is that it misrepresents the polling; the 84% figure for lesbians is from a crosstab that explicitly excludes trans people, which is then merged with a different aggregate that includes trans ppl at 80%

had to wiki to check but wouldn't that be a fairly unremarkable difference given that fwar weights heavily on runs and has no measure of a catcher's game-saving defensive plays, and catchers have relatively low offensive output compared to defensive output? (repost due to wonky copy paste of frmla)

one of the secondary problems for the city building so few lane miles of complete streets per year is that so many different community organizations ~8 years ago showed support and have little to show for it now. but hey, the Bike Lobby Hater Won.

heart-brokenly thinking about the rich body of work (puar, davis, atshan, hill, coates, etc) that could spare someone from not grasping the deep connection between palestine and ice. as trans rot we know our liberation is entangled with theirs. (not qting the op to reduce conflict.)

if, terrifyingly, they woke up that fateful oct 31st and the cecil-side house was at the currently zoned max height of 35ft, with the as-built-footprint, shade lasts until 9:36am, the worst case with 25ft would push that back to 10:11am ish.

imagining someone on the kirk side, waking up on october 31st... they enjoy the morning sun on their back porch, sunrise is at 7:37am, their back yard is shaded by their cecil side neighbor until 8:50ish, (shademap.app model, heights weren't correct so added a shape, added 2nd to ignore tree cover)

we picked an arbitrary r-6 plat in chm to look at (w 9 s 14, block 4114-I), between kirk and cecil off exeter. (caveat: it's sort of bad bc the cecil side is built smaller than as-zoned (red)), but you can compare the lot (green) to prev (45%, gold) and new (60% blue) with 25ft min backyard

gee if only the journalist writing this piece could have taken just a few more lines to think through what O'Shea is *actually* saying here. what is o'shea going to "enlighten" trans residents about? does that *particular* choice of words communicate something about what O'Shea believes?
