Doug Ford's government has turned the Skills Development Fund into a fund for close friends.
According to the Trillium, a lobbying firm owned by Ford's campaign manager helped secure $100 million from the fund for its clients. This comes after last week's Auditor General report which found that the Ministry of Labour overrode evaluations to approve applicants rated "poor" or
"low." Many of the recipients of the Fund were PC donors, organizations with close ties to the Ford government, or groups connected through lobbying.
What would once have been a shocking scandal is now expected. This government has normalized backroom deals and turned programs meant to support Ontario's workers and economy into another way for his close friends to get ahead. I won't let them skirt accountability, Ontarians deserve integrity and transparency from their government.

So while I agree w ppl being autonomous over own property, I don’t agree *anyone* should be able to buy HOUSING as investments in times of housing shortages &financial crisis. Esp big invest firms.
Region now has to find emerg shelter for them, w no resources, no beds, demand overwhelming budget.😔

Ex: Recently reported SMALL fire in poorly maintained corporate-owned apt building, bought for future downtown land value prospecting. Plan for HIGH end condos.🙄 Tenants r vets, retirees, lower-income.

Owner evicted ALL to develop now, rather than repair fire. None can find new housing.😣

Too many hedge funds, banks, Corp/outside investors buying housing for profit/redevelopment. Human tenants not priority, so upkeep &rights violations are abundant. Evict ppl when ready to develop -disruptive &leaves many homeless.
Housing shortage &rising prop values (rents) r worsened.😣
