A day after my disastrous Bridle Trails 50K race: I barely finished it with 6:06:57 -- more than an hour longer than what my goal was!

The initial 2 loops (~10mi) went fine, but starting from 11th my left ankle/calf started going wrong. Looking back my […]

Bridle Trails 50K #race today: arrived too early? 😆
Looks like water will start falling from sky later today — luckily it should start long after the race is done!

In preparation for the next Saturday’s 50K race, this #sundaylongrun I only did a 11mi easy run: pace 10’36”/mi including 1mi walk from 6th mile mark, w/ avg HR 129bpm and 100% in Z1/2.

2026 started a bit problematic for me in #in inng, with erratic sleep due […]

#NewYear #parkrun today: was planning to do just a tempo run and got one at pace 7’43”/mi, but my HR was way too high: avg/max 172/184bpm (usually in 160 range). Slept 3 hours afterwards.

#coachgpt said it’s my jet lag + the mileage I stacked up in the past […]

December #running recap: vs November my mileage dropped 222.1 → 139.2 mi (159.2 w/ walking), EG rose 6,113 → 9,977 ft, and run time fell 35 → 23 hrs.

Travel to #taiwan cut volume, though #taipei Stadium tracks boosted EG. I missed my 200-mi month, but I’d […]

November #running recap: compared to October I have 171.3 → 222.1mi (231.7 w/ walking), EG 3,384 → 6,113ft, 28 → 35hr running.

This was up significantly from October (including EG), and met both of my monthly quota 200mi and yearly goal 2,400mi (one month […]

Surprisingly refreshing. On the surface it’s a #scifi #comedy, but it's more like social commentary (that's why it's even more surprising). Recommended.

Just read the 2025 Letter by Zhengdong Wang — a sharp reflection on where AI is and where it’s heading. Takeaways:

• Compute keeps compounding despite real headwinds
• Progress = time-to-task, not benchmarks
• Institutions lag capability; jobs change slower than tools

Previewing Bridle Trails #50k #race on Jan 10: running only 2 loops ~10mi today (1/3 of the race distance). Still under influence of jet lag and didn't feel easy. But I still have more than a week!

Final run in #taipei Stadium in this trip: a 5mi “easy" run but w/ 991ft EG! We didn't know the little track field opened from 6pm so I run outside of the big track arena (my daughter was smarter than me)!

Another 4+mi today with my daughter at #taipei Stadium: progression + 4x20s strides with peak pace at 4’51”/mi. This is a very deceiving track field: EG 491ft and my pace 8’18”/mi becomes GAP 7’09”/mi!

Oh, and #earthquake alerts sounded on everyone’s phone.
