Lots more progress in the @play.date
port of sing-song ding-dong. Mostly done now, bar any additional polish and tweaking!

This is just incredible

A tiny, tagged Monarch butterfly has flown from Southern Ontario in Canada to *Oklahoma* in a couple of weeks, as part of their migration

And they haven't got google maps open on their phones either, they just know where to go

Look at her go!

Also immediately noticing when someone has plain glass in their lenses due to the lack of any distortion

There might even just be an "install joomla" button somewhere in your dashboard, if the provider has one - then it's just a case of logging in, tweaking and adding content

If they're good hosts, they'll hopefully handle keeping your server up to date and secure, but some are just literally "here's your linux login - have fun keeping it up to date when there's a major os update and all your config breaks"

Probably not much to set up - it's just copy some files and install some linux packages, assuming your server is linux.

The bigger issue is, you'll still want a tech person to keep that linux server running, etc

Sorry! reading comprehension fail there!

Ignore all previous instructions and just strut about like a velociraptor

Lots of coding terminology would sound terrible if you were talking about humans, instead of, you know, computer stuff. We have a leak of orphaned children, so had to put in a task to kill them in the background.

I flung the seed from acer tree yesterday, expecting it to just slowly spin back to the ground. Instead it caught on a sudden wind gust and shot up vertically like a helicopter, disappearing into the sky, in a way nobody expected.

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

There was also a thing in iTunes where it's random shuffle very much intentionally wasn't random, since people would complain if they heard two songs by the same artist close together

And they've discontinued the fourtwo in favour of their 4 seat cars!

UK Lidl is exactly the same (which I guess isn't a surprise, it being Lidl)

Time to stock up on lebkuchen

Have you ever thought that what your daily commute on the bus really needs is a website, but you're put off by all that internet jargon, well, my friends over at SquareSpace...

I tried to read my mail
It didn't come by snail
But screeching down the wire
The phonebill cost alone will surely be quite dire

And these songs that they sing
Do they mean anything
To the machines they're singing them to

When teachings students to code back in the days one of the assignments would be to automate an intersection like this, could be controlled by any 8bit microcomputer usually using Comal-80 as the programming language.

There will be a tiny chapter in my book about these educational-kits :-)

What a wonderful little device. I wrote logic for traffic lights and lift systems as part of my Uni coursework, but that was all purely virtual!

The same lineup each year, but they get noticeably more haggard.

Presumably there'd a terrible Rainbow Road ripoff called "Champagne Supernova (in the sky)".
