The 2028 democratic presidential primary, like the 2020 one, is basically going to be every candidate posting this image and saying "America if we had a governing majority" and they'll be absolutely right, and if we dont get the chance to prove it...

"Do not be afraid. Elmo is the First and the Last. Elmo is the Living One; Elmo was dead, and now look, Elmo is alive for ever and ever! YAYYY! And Elmo holds the keys of death and Hades!"

Guys, the new Mountain Goats album is so good! It feels like nothing I've ever heard from them, and they remain spectacular! Will say more, in the morning, but give it a listen. If you've only got time for one song, I think Broken to Begin With is a great pick. Or The Lady From Shanghai 2.

Behold! I come from post-filibuster 2026 with election results! The bad news is: literally everything else.

When the people who have been marinating in the nazi stew show up on bsky and start censoring their posts, not posting links, and preemptively making allowances for nazi shit

Presidents selected ANNUALLY BY SORTITION FROM SENATORS WITH EXPIRING TERMS. Yall, the federalists were straight up evil
October 25, 2025 at 6:12 PM
This guy wants to abolish the vice presidency and replace it with the speaker of the senate
October 25, 2025 at 5:33 PM
Allowing the recall of senators at *any* point would have made things so messy, i love it

This could have been huge. A constitutional amendment affirming native american rights in Louisiana. Still would have been violated, obviously, but more tools for resistance is always useful

IS THIS ANOTHER ADMIRALTY COURT AMENDMENT!?
October 25, 2025 at 4:52 PM
Not only was there this attempt to subject any law regulating commerce (!) To a requirement for a 2/3rds majority (!!!) In both houses, but we do not know who proposed the amendment

I regret to inform you that, 4 days after submitting his original slate of amendments, Tommy boy has submitted a THIRD amendment for Admiralty courts.

"The senators and representatives [etc] shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no OTHER religious test shall ever be required..." does this imply that fealty to the constitution constitutes a religious test, that its a religious document? Metal as hell.

ANNUAL ELECTION OF SENATORS!

And this one excludes disputes between citizens of different states and between a state and citizens of a different state! The earlier one requiring that state-imposed tariffs not discriminate between trade partners was also interesting. I want to know more about thus guy!
October 25, 2025 at 4:34 PM
This guy has 2 different amendments renaming the "inferior courts" as "Admiralty courts". Is this just a re-naming? Or is there a substantive change here? Are those actually military courts?

Either way, just make it one amendment!
October 25, 2025 at 4:27 PM
It looks like this amendment would have created a carve-out in the emoluments clause for people holding foreign office at the time of ratification? Anyone know the story here?
October 25, 2025 at 4:20 PM
I had no idea this amendment, which would raise the size of the US house of representatives to 5,750 (if my math is right), is still pending! Does that mean we could ratify it just with the states, like the legislative compensation amendment? If so, that's so cool!
