In case you're curious, it was after I posted this in a discussion about controversy around students supposedly "gaming the system" by getting extra time on exams due to a disability. May be of interest to you since I'm guessing you've also invigilate exams.

What is the actual claim here? That some students are "cheating" by getting extra time on tests?

I invigilate exams for students with accessibility needs. At a certain point, extra time only helps if you actually know the material.

Sometimes I look at how small students write and I think, is there even that much material in the course?

I'm a great admirer of Michael Hobbes's podcasts, so, yes. But he's also known for being very rigorous and incisive in his critiques, so the joke is that I have to be careful about what I post lest I become the subject of the next episode of "If Books Could Kill".

The Coppolas have made some good movies. I think a lot of people would vote to make Nicolas Cage their king.

You should anticipate the needs of your loved ones by already wearing the propeller beanie. You shouldn't have to be asked.

I don't want to be dismissive of extra time accommodations -- some students have trouble physically moving, or they have a medical condition where they need extra breaks or time to move around.

My point is, extra time won't help a bad student, but it might help a good student who needs it.

Other accommodations (lower lighting, white noise, text-to-voice and voice-to-text) don't help much unless you actually need them. I'd go as far as to guess that, if a student does THAT much better with our accommodations, they probably really need them.

It feels empty and shallow to just hit "like" in response to this, but there's not much else I can do, other than to say that I do understand what you're saying and you are not wrong.

I try to switch up which part of my body I scan every morning, just to keep things interesting. I don't even remember what I scanned this morning, but I'm sure it was great.

As a former TA, I've had students make grade appeals before. Sometimes a grade really IS given unfairly, but there are ways of fixing that without congress getting involved. It is extremely obvious that this is motivated by a desire to eliminate trans people from public life, and nothing else.

"Trying to make a comic" is about where I am.

I've had a lot of anxiety around making comics recently. I was planning to write a rough draft for a graphic novel in November, but I froze up.

So, I'm easing myself into it by doodling in a sketchbook and writing "garbage comics" as a daily exercise.
Some pages from my current sketchbook:

I don't care if you make fun of me, I *always* save a seat for Charlie at Thanksgiving.

If you've heard too many puns and you want them to stop, that's called "getting your Punxsutawney fill".

Did they find any nude photos of Whoopi Goldberg?

Do you mean that DHSgov is not the real Department of Homeland Security account, or that the screenshot is fabricated and that the pictured account (whether it's the real DHS or not) isn't actually based in Israel?
