Their romance wasn't their dream, it was what they did in the meantime while achieving their dreams.

Even though textually, it's only working at only a fraction of the density of Lucas' films, Andor is basically a show in which every flowery speech about finally fighting back against the Empire, laid over a montage of a riot manages to have everyone who loves it proclaiming, "Amen!"

It's the West Wing effect, even though I'll admit that politically, Andor is far more based than West Wing.

But to put it simply, it seems like lot of prestige TV is designed to make its viewers feel like good and important people when they watch it.

Something I realized after season two swept the Emmys a few weeks ago is that a lot of what fans of the shows seem to love about it is how great Andor makes them feel about being on the right side of history.

Vader’s reasoning for doing all of these things is always crystal clear in the narrative, which is why his character is so much better crafted than Kyle.

This makes it much harder to be emotionally moved by any of his major evil actions, like killing a school of Jedi padawans and setting their temple on fire, creating a Death Star, killing his father figure, and trying to turn the protagonist to the dark side.

A major side effect of the creative leads’ neglectance to plan out the character arcs for the main cast at the beginning of production is that it’s incredibly unclear what is motivating Kyle in any given scene, and how much responsibility he really bears for his own decisions.

Everything Kyle does in all three sequel trilogy films, and everything we’re told Ben Solo did before TFA started, is centered around Snoke (and the voice of Sheev) having gotten him to do recreate Anakin pledging himself to the Sith when he was a newborn.

It's similar to the way we consume media on these apps, in a constant cycle of scrolling and swiping, in a constant feed without a beginning or an end.

How different are such purchasing habits, really, from the practice of pre-ordering an LP from an artist, then later streaming the album, concluding that you don't like it, but still keeping the LP once it arrives, instead of having it returned and getting your money back?

There's a scene in THX 1138 where THX goes to a store and buys an object, and then a few scenes later, he promptly disposes of this object when he returns home.

The free market that was once viewed as such a virtue of capitalist society has been reduced to an empty ritual of consumption.

But it still reveals how inconsistent the author’s standards are for music, since this album is of similarly poor quality to everything else she’s ever made, so there was no reason to expect this one was going to be good.

The author says in the article that they had pre-ordered the vinyl weeks prior, and then when the album was officially released, she then streamed it and realized she didn’t like it. So it wasn’t that she’d pre-ordered an album she already knew she wouldn’t like.
