Really enjoyed this episode, especially when you read the descriptions of Lake Buena Shopping Village with the easy listening bops in the background. What I wouldn’t give to go back in time and walk around there (in my Brooksgate blazer of course!).

Nice! But Wotan was history by the time Wagner started reading Art Schopenhauer, whose galaxy brain ideas suffused Tristan and Parsifal. I rec this beautiful book about it all.

Wouldn’t be the first time a Wagner rookie attended Bayreuth with a free ticket. These guys probably didn’t dare leave after Act 1 though. On the bright side, they saw a traditional staging.

Yoda’s similar dress just cinched the idea in our mind. The only other example of Jedi dress we had was Luke in ROTJ, but I was never clear if that was based on a traditional form of Jedi dress or if it was Luke’s own invention.

Later in ROTJ we saw Anakin’s Force ghost dressed like Obi-Wan. At the time I definitely thought that’s just what Jedi wear, like samurai wear kimono. It didn’t mean others in that world couldn’t wear that style (Uncle Owen, etc), just as common people in Japan also wore kimono.

Yes, based on A New Hope. For many years, these bits of dialogue and Obi-Wan’s example were the only canon we had about the history of the Jedi.

I guess this alleged “obstruction of justice” is totally different from Trump’s federal indictments for obstruction of justice in the 2020 election interference & classified docs cases & likely the Russian collusion case. And impeached on obstruction the first time. Classic Fox & Hen House.
