As far as I can see, there hasn't been a crash at Woolsey and Eton in 10 years at least.

If this was really about fire codes, wouldn't we also cancel the Solano Stroll? Solano has a 4 storey building.

Mandela is signed as part of the Bay Trail, which itself is advertised as being a biking and walking trail.

I definitely wouldn't know. Berkeley has a similar problem on the Ohlone Greenway -- it looks like a sidewalk along Hearst

Milk is getting crazy expensive
Half gallon of Clover Organic for $7.99

Surprise from the archives, in 1985, Berkeley had Commercial Property Rent control and eviction restrictions.

When your bus to Cal State East Bay runs once every 40 minutes, and then one gets cancelled @rideact.bsky.social

Happiness is Berkeley installing a new traffic circle at the end of your block!
November 6, 2025 at 12:34 AM
Super deep cut, but 15mph speed limit actually applies in Berkeley in locations with unsigned intersections and < 100 feet visibility, even without speed limit signs

CVC 22352 a2. Example Greenwood Terr at Rose

CVC 22352 a 3 Alleys

UCB has a 15mph sign
LBL is 15mph everywhere
November 4, 2025 at 6:11 PM
Albany put a 20mph limit on part of Solano.

Seems like one of those buildings that would be difficult to retrofit. Built in 1931, lots of glass and bricks.

Kind of surprised no one has put a plaque up for the left wing meetings that took place there.

The original 1926 Antioch bridge sounds nicer for peds and cyclists than the current one. It had a 15mph speed limit for heavy trucks, and the plans called for concrete walkways.

Also, Next door reports someone on a scooter got hit by a car at San Pablo and Virginia tonight.

No details.

Treated myself to a nice clean pair of Handup gloves from Stay True in Berkeley in oh so visible pink.

Here's one way to get more prompt installation of pedestrian safety improvements --

2930 Shattuck is a testament to Berkeley's addiction to parking and cars. It has 2 parking lanes, 3 driving lanes and zero bike lanes.

Make it 5 more blocks and Oakland loves you. At Shattuck and Alcatraz, the bike lane guides you through the intersection.

It's 2025 and Andronico's in Berkeley still has a terrible bicycle rack.

It was a sad day when Berkeley lost De Afghanan Kabob House

Cool. AFAIK Berkeley hasn't hosted organized cross since Tilden.

Here's a Berkeley Head-scratcher.

70' curb to curb and lanes of 15, 11, 11, and 32 feet.
No refuge.
Near a school.

In meaningless ancient trivia, that sign at the back of the junkyard for the Star Car Agency appears to date from 1925, when you could buy a Star Car at 2210 San Pablo which is at the back of the lot and was then "Brooks Motor Company" Here are some ads from the Oakland Tribune 3/29/25
