They were there because I was at my desk. They stayed there all afternoon, as long as I was there. Mimi and the Four always followed me around, and the other four followed them. I couldn't have been happier every day to turn around and see them tumbled all over the cabinet, and later in the baskets.

The black cats are Mimi, Mr. Sunshine, Giuseppe, Mewsette and Jelly Bean, plus Basil and Bella and Hamlet, all the black cats in the house at that time.

How well I remember those naps on the cabinet by the window.

It turned out this slumber part lasted almost a week! The yellow basket, the zebra-striped fleecy mats, and between four and seven black cats—and at one point Hamlet's little fluffy gray sister Ophelia, all the cats enjoying afternoons of winter naps while I worked at my desk.

I usually offer this in September so that portraits can be done by December, but this year was a little scrambled. It's never too late, though! And giving a certificate as a gift lets the recipient choose their photos and plan their portrait. And if it's for you then get your pictures together!

The sooner you order, the sooner I'll start on your portrait, even though it's unlikely to be ready before the December holidays start in earnest.

Clearly they weren't as happy as I was when I came inside after they'd been waiting for breakfast for quite some time. Well, I understand a lot of things about these three cats, and I'm sure they understand a lot of things about me. Everything is resolved with breakfast.

especially if I decide to pull some weeds or plant or harvest something, some days like this particular day when I had no idea how long I'd been outside but I had a really good time taking photos and recording some thoughts in to my phone with voice to text.

...sometimes I take photos, sometimes I walk around the garden and the yard, sometimes I stay in one place, usually I end up with my stretches and a bit of yoga. Then I go back inside and start on kitty breakfasts.

Admittedly, I can end up spending a lot of time out there some days,...
