Ironic that a news organization like the Times has to be alerted that Joe Biden is no longer president. Apparently the Times editors also didn't get the alert that Republicans are more corrupt.

Here in 2025, my Times-loving parents wouldn't even touch the crossword puzzle in this thing @nytimes.com

NYT no priority to TX National Guard invading Chicago. Nothing about Chicago journalists filing a lawsuit vs the Trump regime.

Is the NYT the best use of your personal news diet and journalism dollars/attention?

The @apnews.com is a fantastic natl/intl news resource w/o the normalization.

Republicans in Congress won't speak out because this is what they want. Time for Democratic members of the House and Senate to organize rallies and marches in their districts. Time to stand up against tyranny. Waiting for one day, a Saturday, to protest is no longer enough.

I know this sounds extreme. It is.

I know I sound overly alarmist. I don't think I am.

Trump is enacting a well thought out plan so he and his allies can rule forever.

But it's not too late to stop them. We can peacefully and forcefully mobilize now. We have the power.

We aren't on the verge of an authoritarian takeover. We are in the middle of it.

But I worry people don't see the whole scheme. They just pay attention to each new daily outrage. So I went to the Senate floor to explain Trump's plan.

Here's a 🧵of the speech. It's important.

Log cabin Republicans must be so proud, especially Scott Bessent. Just like all those Latinos who voted for Trump and are now too scared to leave their homes. But, hey, they really stuck it to the libs.

This is out of hand. These agents are there to cause trouble and violence, not to keep people safe. These are the scenes that play out in war torn, destitute countries - not America.

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

And we're not giving it to them. Because they are proceeding toward imploding all by themselves.

Chilling insight by @barbarafwalter.com: "Once citizens view their own government’s security forces as an occupying army, violence becomes inevitable. Trump’s team knows this… They’re trying to trigger the very unrest that would justify further crackdowns."

via www.nytimes.com/2025/10/07/o...
Screenshot from a NYT article by Thomas Edsall, quoting Barbara Walter of UC-San Diego: "The quickest way to piss people off is to send soldiers into their neighborhoods especially when there’s no reason for them to be there. It’s inherently provocative, and Trump and his team understand this. Research by the political scientist Robert Pape shows that the single most powerful predictor of suicide terrorism is the presence of foreign troops on local soil. People hate, hate, hate that. They hate the humiliation, the powerlessness, the feeling of being occupied.

"Once citizens begin to view their own government’s security forces as an occupying army, violence becomes inevitable. Trump’s team knows this. In fact, that’s the point. They are not trying to restore order; they’re trying to trigger the very unrest that would justify further crackdowns. In the end, violence serves their ultimate end: They want to create the illusion of disorder so they can tighten control and stay in power indefinitely."

Attorney General Pam Bondi came before the Judiciary Committee today.

But she refused to answer a raft of important questions.

On Tom Homan's bribe.

On Donald Trump's new luxury plane.

On January 6th pardons.

On illegal strikes in the Caribbean.

On Epstein.

The stonewalling was staggering.

Good morning.

The government is shutdown and Republicans are hiding. They aren't even in Washington.

Why? Because Trump thinks he's king. He's told his sycophants to boycott budget talks so he can act lawlessly and steal people's health care to pay for his billionaire tax cut.

When Democrats controlled the White House, Senate and House there were no shutdowns because we acted like adults and negotiated with Republicans.

Now Republicans control everything and they're refusing to even show up for work. Because they think the chaos of a shutdown is fun.

Remember the Pam Bondi dynamic: for two decades she's had the "well we have to book SOMEBODY, even that idiot Bondi" role in cable news. Now she has stature and professional hair colorists and ad libs written for her.

She's in Pam Bondi heaven and will do or say anything to stay there

Way to go, Chicago, more of this! Kristi Noem is upset that ICE agents in Chicago are being “denied entry” to restrooms and lunch spots.

IN HONOR OF FRIENDSHIP MONTH:

djt: "We have certain things in common, Jeffrey."

Epstein: "Yes we do, come to think of it."

djt: "A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday- and may every day be another wonderful secret."

And by "wonderful secret", he means raping children.

This has nothing to do with crime. This is an attempt to crush political dissent.

Never before, in our entire 250 year history, has the military or immigration agents been used like this. It's dystopian, illegal, and it should stop.

Republicans brought the Senate back today to block our bill to lower health care costs and end the shutdown, and to insist on their bill to deprive millions of their health care.

Meanwhile, Republicans in the House decided to remain on vacation.

Understand what they are doing: using the massive power of the state - including military power and the power to imprison - to carry out a campaign to eliminate their political opposition.

It's growing in seriousness by the hour.
