Oh, without a doubt. Helping people understand they are everywhere is very helpful. It's estimated there are 5 billion (not million) compressors on the planet. When I ask people to elucidate what they mean by "in reverse" they always struggle to expand on the statement.

I was with @janrosenow.bsky.social at this event at the house of commens terrace pavilion. It's a glass fronted Marquee heated with heat pumps. Heat pumps have been heating UK buildings before this country got it's first shipment of Methane in 1959

Hi HumanTravl, yes this is an often used analogy. Arguably not a helpful one. Nothing is in reverse. A heat pump is just an evaporator moving energy to a condenser, whether a fridge, slush puppy machine, air con unit or an air to water heat pump.
