“Your work carries the essence of Autumn. If woodsmoke could draw.”

One of the best compliments that I’ve had on my work. I like to think that it’s true. 🍂
Two brown witch hares stare deeply at one another. As if caught in an act of surprise. The drawings are created using graphite, charcoal and ink. The backgrounds are misty and wild. The hares stare into your soul. Graphite pencil and charcoal drawing of a fox skull slowly decaying into some autumn leaves. Graphite pencil drawing of an oak gall. The textures are gritty and smokey. The oak gall is a deformed acorn that insects create. Watercolour study of a roe deer antler. I found this antler mostly sun bleached and there’s a lot of knobbly rugged textures throughout.

I’ve been invited to sell my original artwork elsewhere, so if you’ve wanted something via ebay now is your chance to bag it.

Me and Matt have also done a major clear out of our possessions and there are some rarities listed.

I’m going to have an exciting art shake-up this month. 🫨

I still have a few of originals on ebay, including this beautiful framed thylacine skeleton: tinyurl.com/4aeptvk4

We also have lots of bits and bobs on ebay. Including fossils, thylacine collectibles etc.
An oak-gall ink thylacine skeleton which was drawn into a Cambridge museum gift-bag. The thylacine skeleton fades in and out of the gift-bag typeface.

Saw someone say, “Stop hoarding books, we don’t need paper books anyway” and I can’t express how misguided this is. Online libraries disappear, digital books can be altered, and with Big Tech seeking to destroy history and literacy, print media has never been more essential.

In an interview, Jane Goodall stated that death is another potential adventure. It's a positive way to look at the end of your life, after such a fulfilled existence on this planet.

Journey onwards, and thanks for the inspiration. ❤️

Whilst away on holiday. I saw these cute stickers based on local themes.

For the first time, I had to question whether the artwork was AI or not.

It’s really sad I think…

Decided to repair her leg with a little bit of gold leaf. Because such a beautiful animal deserves that.

I’ve been working hard on creating some autumnal/ancient woodland inspired art lately and I hope to share it soon.

I’m also going to draw a stag beetle.

We found at the bottom of an old tree stump, a beautifully preserved female stag beetle and totally desiccated.

Sadly one of her legs broke off on the way home. I’ll try and repair it.

Any advice on how to keep beetle specimens? I don’t think I’ll attempt to pin her.
Photo of a female European stag beetle resting on Matt’s hand. Photo of the stag beetle with her broken leg resting by her. I’m upset about the leg. I want to try and repair it.

She is totally dry so can I just put her in a little box and that’s all that’s needed?

I think she’s past the point of being pinned.

I've just returned from a truly amazing weekend in the New Forest. Feeling very inspired, though it does make you see what natural habitats the rest of the UK should have.

Overnight oats. Prep them the night before, and they can be quite cost-effective.

The original of this sold quickly and is on its way to a good home.

I want to paint more pictures of this beautiful bird.

Great Auk

Japanese ink painting of a Great Auk. The pose is loosely based on the incredible work by John Gould.

#japaneseink #greatauk #extinctbird
Japanese sumo ink painting of a great auk. The auk has captured a fish, there are ink splashes and ripples to show this quick movement. Its large webbed feet try to keep itself steady as it eats the prized fish.
