You may never know what someone has experienced. But when emotions come ‘from nowhere’ and the person seems overwhelmed in sadness, grief, fear, terror, overwhelm, shock or they are frozen and stuck- be kind to them. Our bodies store memories way deeper. We need to learn as humans

Loved training day 4 of the 6 day course I’m running for the South Glos Violent reduction unit and sexual exploitation team. Love police and social care teams coming together to wrestle with reflections on trauma. It’s so lovely being in person and not online! Great coffee too!❤️

It’s important when we look at defensive mechanisms and trauma symptoms to always remember how much courage it took for people to survive the trauma.
Let’s never pity people but always authentically show respect for them for surviving difficult and terrifying ordeals.

Well guess who I met in Glasgow airport after I had been training a lovely organisation about trauma recovery and I believe that @DrGaborMate had been training at a large conference there too! ❤️❤️🙌

Trauma recovery can honestly change the whole world… if only people knew it was possible. It changes mindsets, systems, identities, strategies and financial plans. But so many people don’t even know it’s possible…

I’ve been on holiday for 7 whole days without any children for the first time in 26 years! I needed more books to read- I’m so used to taking unread ones home! Me and Mr deT enjoying peace, calm and quiet. Very excited to see 3 out of 4 of our sons tomorrow! ❤️📚🏝️

Listening to @AshcroftBen who is amazing! What a story he has. My goodness he has been let down by our society so very badly. I wish he had had the ability to belong to some community projects where he was around positive role models. He’s done so well! ✔️🥂🎉🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

1/2. I released this at the @Trauma_recovery conference last week. We need a trauma route that is like oncology with different roles working together. Everyone should be a first aider. Paramedics have done life saving training & are needed everywhere to help in crisis….

This unprocessed trauma reaction can be really deeply distressing and can even make people avoid others to avoid the possible automatic reactions. That can then lead to isolation and loneliness, which then exacerbates the feelings of fear. Trauma recovery is a process! Xx

This is still my favourite book that I’ve written. I know it changes lives and helps unlock people who otherwise would think they or their child will have a diagnosis for ever.

Someone here on Twitter this week said they have this book in their handbag for regular checking!

There can be so much awful direction to tell each other what traumatic experience you’ve had. This is not sensible! I wish things were more simple but they are not. #traumarecovery #reauma #traumainformed #recovery

What an incredible, caring &hard working Queen she was.Grief touches lives deeply &even when most people may not have known the Queen personally or specifically had their lives touched by her,the loss of someone we admire can trigger other grief to be felt again. Let’s be kind x
