Children and families deserve to be safe when they walk or bike to school.

This #WalkRolltoSchoolDay, we urge you to demand better infrastructure for students along University Blvd.

Stay tuned for action alerts and more information about the ways we can make it a safer place for all residents.

More than 6,000 students attend schools fronting University Blvd., and many walk to school, often crossing University Blvd. or waiting to cross along narrow sidewalks close to the busy, high-speed road.
betterdcregion.bsky.social
On this #WalkRolltoSchoolDay, we celebrate safe and active travel for children and families.

However, in many areas of our region, walking and biking to school remains unsafe, including along University Blvd. in Montgomery County, MD.

Who's up for some ✨transit-oriented birding✨?

CSG team members @cmkisicki.bsky.social and @cherylcort.bsky.social took Metro and biked to check out a red phalarope this morning before work.

This is only the 5th record of this little shorebird in D.C.!

Continuing our tour of critical @wmata.com infrastructure, learning about the old but reliable signaling system. A top priority for our region needs to be funding for a new modern signaling system for Metrorail. It will allow for running more frequent trains.

Today is Car-Free Day! It's Car-Free Day! 🚇🚌🚲🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️
People who ride transit walk as much as 30 minutes more daily, increasing heart health, building muscle, & reducing risk of heart disease. Families using transit save about $2,800 annually on rideshare, parking, tolls, & $10,500 on car ownership.
At a metro station, a woman with a bicycle prepares to board the train. The train car displays the "M metro" logo and number "6062." A second woman stands nearby on the red brick platform, holding a brown bag.

The W&OD Trail is a Northern Virginia treasure at risk.

Yet Dominion’s clear-cutting and a potential long-shot commuter rail proposal could significantly change this important corridor.

This op-ed explains why we must act now to protect the trail: ggwash.org/view/100790/...
The W&OD Trail is a Northern Virginia treasure at risk
The W&OD Trail is one of Northern Virginia’s most popular recreational spaces. Clear-cutting by Dominion Energy is a pressing threat, and we can’t be complacent.
