We represent 42 independent national consumer organisations in Brussels and defend the interests of European consumers.
Tests ran by consumer organisations across Europe paint a worrying picture: 69% of 162 products from Shein and Temu (chargers, toys, jewellery) destined for EU consumers are illegal and unsafe.

Thanks to EU Travel Tech for inviting us to speak about the #DigitalMarketsAct!

The #DMA rebalances digital markets and allows more choice for consumers, also for travel tech.

Addressing unmet needs, better shortage prevention and mitigation, better drugs affordability and availability across the EU

This is what the revised Pharma Legislation will help deliver for EU consumers compared to status quo, which is good news.

Continued work is needed to address all gaps

“Made of 100% recycled plastic”, “100% recyclable” and other green claims are rife on plastic bottles. Consumers are made to believe such bottles have no impact on the environment. But they do. We lodged an complaint 2y ago with the support of @clienteartheur.bsky.social and @ecos.ngo. What's new? 🧵

🇧🇬🇨🇿🇩🇪🇭🇺🇮🇹🇵🇱🇸🇰 all pushing for hybrids to be allowed for sale after 2035.

To be clear, this would mean more expensive mobility for consumers 👇 (annual running costs for medium-sized 🚗).

7️⃣ years ago, 7 of our members filed complaints against Google over its tracking of users’ locations.

A lot can happen in 7 years: the GDPR was reformed, Europeans born in 2018 are now in primary school, and the people below joined our digital & enforcement teams! Yet, this case is still pending⏱️

With 12 million parcels arriving every single day, customs authorities are at the frontline of ensuring these goods comply with EU law, but today they struggle to meet this objective. The EU Customs reform should better equip customs authorities and ensure that traders worldwide respect EU rules.

🤖 As AI-driven decisions grow, people deserve more transparency. Our Stefano Rossetti argued last week for a right to know and explainability in #AISystems to keep the right to complain effective. 🤝 That is why clear rules are needed on how #AIAct and #GDPR work together to protect consumers.
