For his groundbreaking 1948 LIFE magazine photo essay, “Country Doctor” photographer W. Eugene Smith spent 23 days in Kremmling, Colo., chronicling the day-to-day challenges faced by an indefatigable general practitioner named Dr. Ernest Ceriani.
Thanks, Bert. These images have been burned into my memory for years.
This is exactly right.
Happy to see that you are still bringing us important images to contemplate and enjoy. Cheers
What is this idiot talking about? Does he even know what a Marxist is? These jerks really love to throw this around.
The rose on the right of my screen is 'Peace', is that right? I need to get more of these roses. I had a few some years ago, but the climate here is hard on time.
Beautiful, thanks.
This pathetic turd of a man is simply too ignorant and too stupid to know what he is talking about. He doesn't read, he doesn't know history, and he is too uninterested in learning anything. This is dangerous.
Blah, blah, blah.

Thanks. I'm just rereading her 'Twilight of Democracy,' a very smart thesis about what is happening now.

Before Raphael Lemkin collapsed on 42nd Street in New York City and died at a local police station in 1959, he knew these truths about genocide that the world still cannot accept.

It's great that you mentioned this. In 2016 I read Philippe Sands' important, and very moving, book about the origins of the concepts of 'genocide' and 'crimes against humanity,' 'East West Street.' It examines the lives of Raphael Lemkin and Hersch Lauterpacht. It has stayed with me.
