I have roots in Manchester. My grandmother was born there. Today's deadly attack at a synagogue, on Yom Kippur, was appalling. The rise of anti-Semitism, worldwide, is appalling. Anger at the Israeli government's policies--and I myself am angry--must not be taken out on Jews anywhere. What a world.💔

All those ‘Five days later’s add up—keep track of time while writing your novel! #writingtip #editingtip #editor #writer

Authors beware: fake book clubs are reaching out to writers, asking to feature your books. The emails reveal knowledge about your book, probably gleaned from the blurb. After asking if they can secure a date, they ask for an 'administrative' fee. Has happened to me and many author friends! #newscam

Happy #PunctuationDay!
Cartoon shows a woman walking away from a confused man. She says, "I’m sorry, Chad, but I could never date someone who abuses quotation marks the way you do." The man replies, "What do you 'mean'?" Cartoon by Debbie Ridpath Ohi.

Nothing takes me out of a YA novel faster than a 15 year old named Deborah, lol. However old your characters, ensure their names are age appropriate. Look up popular names from the years they would have been born. Also ensure names are culture appropriate. #writingtips #writingcommunity #editor

Message encourages people to sign the petition and telling the Albert government No Book Bans.

Art includes an illustrated portraits of Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and Minister of Education Demetrios Nicolaides.

“ALBERTA PREMIER DANIELLE SMITH & MINISTER OF EDUCATION DEMETRIOS NICOLAIDES.”<br> Text reads "The Alberta government has repeatedly denied that the order is a book ban. A book ban is the removal or restriction of access to a book from a library, school, or other collection due to objections to its content."

The rest of the graphic shows excerpts from the Ministerial Order 030 / 2025, with highlights bits that make it clear that the order is, in fact, a book ban.

Middle section shows the following highlighted excerpts:

“must not select for inclusion in a school library, or make available… materials containing explicit sexual content.”

“must not permit any children, or any students enrolled in a grade or level below grade 10, to access school library materials containing non-explicit sexual content.”

“A school authority must remove materials with explicit sexual content from school libraries no later than October 1, 2025.”

Bottom text in yellow on purple:
“THIS IS A BOOK BAN.”
