I just finished Twists of Fate by Paco Roca and it was phenomenal. It's about the Spanish resistance and its contributions to fighting the Nazis and the liberation of France--and how the Allies let them down by refusing to kick Franco out. Wonderfully drawn, beautifully told.

New year, new book thread! First book of the year: The Incandescent by Emily Tesh. If you like reading about magical schools, but are tired of reading books written through teenagers' eyes, this one is GREAT. A fun look at the life of a teacher who also happens to be a magical badass.

I had a lovely, mellow Christmas this year. My mother remains queen of really cool gifts—she got me some antique game pieces from Sondheim’s estate! I need to figure out how to display these so I can enjoy them all the time.
