It’s now been confirmed that the Snowy Owls died of avian flu. A ban on rodenticides is still needed!

Thank you to the Toronto Star and reporter Reagan McSwain for covering this story. Thank you to Steven Shpak, photographer and educator, for championing a ban on rodenticide in Toronto. You can support his petition here: www.change.org/p/ban-rodent...

Winter birding is picking up so get out there and enjoy our juncos as well as the snow buntings, lapland longspurs, horned larks, and snowy owls who also spend their winters with us in Waterloo Region.

Wishing everyone a wonderful restful time and we will be back in the new year!

We’re looking forward to official City of Kitchener endorsement of our city bird in the new year but for now our bird team is going to rest and enjoy the holidays.
