-11°C at Pearson as of 2:00pm. It's almost a heat wave.

This is trying to build a local passenger service like the GO network, not an express inter-city service. I would re-do that with a minimum spacing of 100km between stations. Also, Montreal and Ottawa should be through stations, not spurs.

What are the chances we see races between bicycles and the LRT, or even marathon runners and the LRT?

I wonder what the chances are that it's so poorly implemented it will allow me to transfer a negative amount every month...

Next up is the assumption that once a plow has gone down a route, that route is clear and snow free. This fails on the overflow problem above, snow being pushed over from adjacent snow clearing, and drifting snow. Nobody verifies this, the city depends on resident complaints to identify problems.
January 29, 2026 at 9:46 PM
It also means that if the snow builds up on the plow blade until it overflows and falls back under the plow, the driver won't care. Fixing it would require another pass over the same area, and that takes too much time.

I'm not sure it's a deliberate policy. More like a number of incentives that combine to produce this result.
First is "get your assigned route done as quickly as possible." This means that plow drivers don't care where the snow goes, as long as it's a location they are not supposed to plow.

So, Does that mean you're having a hard water problem? 😁

Personally, I think zero is still too much money to give to Donald Trump's private army.

I wonder how many of those pairs of seats were occupied by teenagers looking for a dark, quiet place to do something other than watch a movie.

Since when is the city obligate to provide a place for residents to store their possessions?

So the poll says that 4 out of every 5 Albertans are sane.
January 28, 2026 at 2:00 PM
The problem with that is that boats are slow.
The Centre Island ferry travels about a mile, and takes about ten minutes for the trip. Port Credit is 12 miles from the ferry dock, so the travel time would be around two hours each way.

Confederation was in 1867. Canadian Pacific was founded in 1881, 14 years after confederation. Canadian National wasn't created until 1919, more than half a century after confederation.

Someone needs to check their math.

The problem with laws like that, is who decides which organizations are unacceptable? For every organization declared 'unacceptable', there is a percentage of the population who support them as well as those that hate them.

In Canada in 1915, more than one quarter of all children died before the age of five. By 1925, that death rate had been cut in half.

What happened to cause that change? Well, one of the factors was that we started vaccinating our kids.

I haven't noticed a change in the amount of snow, but I have noticed a change in the timing. In the late 60s, if you got a toboggan under the christmas tree, you could count on spending the afternoon using it. Now, the snow generally doesn't arrive until into January.

If noting else, it's an aerobic workout 😀

I'm not sure the government can, or should, be able to tell a company who they can and cannot do business with.

That said, if the companies involved are known, Canadians can apply pressure simply by refusing to do business with them.
Just make sure you tell the companies why you're not interested.
January 27, 2026 at 11:13 PM
That matches with something I've observed. One of the differences between Canadians and Americans is that Americans seem to prefer foods with a higher fat content, and lower sugar than what Canadians like. I have no idea why.

1) you won't be able to do that on the C64 power supply.
2) you won't need the furnace to provide heating either!
😀

3) set out strict limits on the responsibilities and authorities of the new organization
4) Hire enough people to meet the needs of the new duties, with the provision that former ICE employees are not welcome.

1) Fire everyone involved in ICE, in any capacity.
2) change the name of the organization

Looks like a really good reason to stand well back from the yellow line, especially at the ends of the platforms.
