I had a friend who confessed that he felt very conflicted when he was saw a woman dressed as Gadget for Halloween.
I made him feel better by saying she's basically the same character as Kaylee from Firefly.

There's a lot of parts of TBC where it seems like the narrative stops so Neal can show us his research. Anathem was smart enough to put a lot of that in notes.
