Darnella Frazier is the woman who shot the video of George Floyd being killd in 2020. She received a citation from the Pulitzer Prize board for her work.

Here, she recounts what happened to her sister and her sister's boyfriend when ICE agents came to Minneapolis.

They were in an unmarked vehicle and were not all fully dressed in their uniforms. In the world we live in today, you don’t know what’s real and fake, or what to trust anymore. Allegedly her boyfriend’s student visa was expired and they were questioning him about his immigration status. In the process of doing that, he got extremely scared and hopped in the back seat of my sister’s car and told her to drive off. So that’s what my sister did, and in the process of driving off, an ICE agent got into my sister’s car, allegedly pointing his gun at my sister while she drove to the nearest police station in complete fear. Meanwhile her boyfriend, Bamigboye was on the phone with the police. My sister is not a criminal. Why would she drive to the police station if she intentionally committed a crime? She was scared, as most of us would be. Rekeya is 23. A manager, A CNA who’s spent countless days saving lives and coming home to her dogs every night. She loves make up, she loves fashion, cooking , and she is very creative. She’s built her own little harmless life. Im sharing this because my sister is more than a mugshot and a headline. There are REAL families behind these stories. My sister is currently in federal custody with no voice or outlet. So I will use mine. An expired student visa does not make you a criminal. Niether does seeking help when you feel you are in danger. If you have read this far, please help spread the word! #SeeSomethingSaySomething

Were there moments that you missed? Anything that happened that’s on the cutting room floor? I don’t think there’s anything I missed that I wish I’d gotten. I’ll give you a little anecdote: Stephen Miller was perhaps the most concerned about the portrait session. He asked me, “Should I smile or not smile?” and I said, “How would you want to be portrayed?” We agreed that we would do a bit of both. And then when we were finished, he comes up to me to shake my hand and say goodbye. And he says to me, “You know, you have a lot of power in the discretion you use to be kind to people.” And I looked at him and I said, “You know, you do, too.”

According to LinkedIn, roughly 20 university employees have left this year. That's a lot for a new institution that had 34 staff members listed on its website this week (the number is separate from faculty). The departures include the president, the provost, the lead fund raiser, the executive director of admissions, as well as people who worked in events, operations, and other positions. Over the summer, the provost and the lead fund raiser also left the university, according to their LinkedIn profiles. Summers, the former Harvard president, stepped down from the advisory board in July, saying that he was "not comfortable with the course that UATX has set nor the messages it promulgates and so am withdrawing." (His colleagues on the board, Zimmer and Pinker, stepped down shortly after the university's launch, with Zimmer saying that UATX's critical statements about higher education "diverged very significantly from my own views.")

And since it's all on tape, Wiles can no longer deny she said what she said. She just has to say that "significant context was disregarded."

Because if there's one thing her boss is known for, it's making sure everything he says includes significant context.

Susie Wiles @SusieWiles The article published early this morning is a disingenuously framed hit piece on me and the finest President, White House staff, and Cabinet in history. Significant context was disregarded and much of what I, and others, said about the team and the President was left out of the story. I assume, after reading it, that this was done to paint an overwhelmingly chaotic and negative narrative about the President and our team. The truth is the Trump White House has already accomplished more in eleven months than any other President has accomplished in eight years and that is due to the unmatched leadership and vision of President Trump, for whom I have been honored to work for the better part of a decade. In 2019, Home Affairs had refused his bid for citizenship after NSW Police had earlier charged him with possession of goods suspected of being stolen, which he denied. He appealed the citizenship refusal, but the Administrative Appeals Tribunal dismissed his application for a merits review on the basis that he had no reasonable chance of success. However, court records show the charges relating to possession of suspected stolen goods were later dropped in August 2019. He was eventually granted citizenship in 2022. Records also show that in 2022 he pleaded guilty to a number of minor tobacco offences, including displaying an ice pipe in a shop. He was sentenced to a conditional release order for 12 months. Ahmed was also found guilty of possessing a prohibited weapon – namely a knife – a year later, but no conviction was recorded.

What is a White House press corps to do? It’s complicated, especially as its ranks are increasingly filled with personalities from sycophantic outlets, so we wouldn’t expect pushback from them. And this isn’t to suggest that Scott’s fellow reporters should do a performative outrage routine. But the next time this happens, legitimate journalists ought to pose a perfectly legitimate question. Scott’s efforts should have been the springboard for more detailed follow-ups. Something like, “Just to make sure we have this right, Mr. President: Five days ago, you said this about the video: ‘I don’t know what they have, but whatever they have we’d certainly release, no problem.’ That’s the exact quote that Rachel Scott was just referring to. Are you now backtracking from that?” And if the president goes nuclear again, the next reporter can ask, “I’m trying to clarify which position you’re taking, the one from last week where you said you’d release the video, or the one today where you’ve hedged?” Journalists like to proclaim their solidarity with one another, usually at gala fundraising dinners, or during panels in the lecture halls of schools like the one where I teach, Columbia University. But most of our audience will never see those events. What they do see are press briefings where reporters are expected to ask hard questions and follow up when officials weave and dodge. They can show true solidarity—with one another, and with the public—by pushing forward with the newsworthy questions that they have every right to ask.

A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.
