The Times of Israel reports that Greta Thunberg & her fellow Flotilla crew are being held in a special "terrorist" section of Ketziot prison—or in "terrorist conditions," as Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel's Minister of National Security put it.

On Friday, the ultranationalist minister suggested that Israel would be better off throwing the flotilla participants in prison for several months
rather than immediately deporting them back to their home countries. Security prisoners - those incarcerated for offenses that intentionally harm national security - are housed separately from criminal prisoners and are not eligible for many of the benefits available to the general prison population. The term is a catch-all term applied to detainees, convicted prisoners and terrorists, and administrative detainees who are held
without charges for extended periods, without trial.

"We are in Ketziot prison, and as I promised, those flotilla members,
supporters of terrorism, are here in a security prison," Channel 14 reported
Ben Gir as saying. "They receive conditions for terrorists here, for everything, terrorist sweatpants, terrorist conditions. This means, there is a minimum of the
minimum, that's what I promised and that's how we are fulfilling it."

Fanny has little agency. Emma is at the top of the heap, and is horribly entitled. I have always found Fanny much more intriguing than Emma, Anne Elliot too. They feel like more ‘true’ portraits of women than the women in Emma. But they are not as much fun, of course.

Normal. As I have aged I gravitate to Persyasion and MF. I can see Fanny Price as the person forced into a ‘better’ life. Always the outside clear-sighted observer. Like the young lady’s maid in Gosford Park, she sees everything, but can do little. Stress and frustration is her lot.

She arrived at #Auschwitz on 20 December 1943 in a transport of 850 Jews deported from Drancy. She was among 505 of them murdered in gas chambers after the selection.

‘Fej fjende’ er muligvis valgt med omhu? Populistisk, ja. Men også et signal til samme fjende, som jo står i en tilstand af uerklæret krig med den vestlige verden.
Jeg siger ikke, det er klogt, men det kan godt være valgt med omhu pga. signalværdien.
Men enig i at det lyder anakronistisk.

Hvor meget ældre? Vi tog imod jøder, der blev jaget ud af Østeuropa i 70erne, og USA og Israel har taget imod jøder der blev smidt ud af Iran, sovjetstater og Afrika siden. Jeg tror, det ser meget mere nutidigt ud for langt de fleste jøder med familie rundt omkring i verden.

At kalde det for en selvskabt angst er temmelig arrogant i betragtning af at antisemitisme har eksisteret siden korstogenes tid og har hjemsøgt jøder verden rundt med mellemrum lige siden. Og stadig gør det.
Men angreb der ikke rammer en selv bliver ofte overset/-hørt.
